Title: Graphics and Sound cards
Post by: redsniper on March 06, 2004, 12:23:17 pm
As a few of you know already from the processor thread, I'm building a new computer sometime soon. For the sound and video cards I plan on getting an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro for a little over $200 and a SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS for about $100.
Any thoughts? Suggestions?

If you've got the money - I think you've got the right choices.

Wouldn't worry too much about your sound card, get a good sound system instead (if you don't already own one). Unless you plan to turn your PC into a somewhat more professional mixing studio. :)

an SB Live! will more than do you - no reason to get an audigy

get a decent set of speakers - 4.1 atleast

Get a Turtle Beach (http://www.tbeach.com/site/products/santacruz/producthome.asp) or something like that for your soundcard.  I have from reliable sources that Creative's drivers are a lot more invasive than they should or need to be.
