And we get to see the Prom kicking ass against Death Gliders, Alkeshs, Hataks and maybe even Anubis' new super-ship.

Personally, I get the feeling we might be picking Prometheus bits out of our hair for a little while - they never let a series end without some monstrous slaughter.

At worst they'll probably have it crashing into the snow. At best they'll have it holding its own till the Ancient stuff kicks in. But they'll probably just have it flying off to draw away some of the ships then not mention it till the Season 8 opener.

Uh-oh. I just downloaded the hi-res version of the preview running on UK TV for it.
Unless the Asgard make a last-minute show, the Prometheus is gonna get ****in' raped.

"Next hit's going to take us out."
And this is while yet more shots from the Hataks stream towards them (though that's probably just editting).
They seem to be using the Prom as one huge shield to defend a Teltak that's transporting something to/from the surface (probably O'Neill).

i just hope that its a really good ending and not something where there saved at the last minute and and is rushed, wasn't this one supposed to be on the big screen?

Bobboau is right. Most of the cast has signed contracts for eight season which will be launched with Atlantis, a spin-off series.

How'd you take the cap?
Every time I tried it did that stupid layering thing where the vid part of the captured image was seperate from the desktop part and wouldn't save.
Oh and the '3rd gate' isn't exactly your normal Stargate. It's some kinda prototype, trans-galactic super gate.

There's definitely another series and the 'cliff-hanger' will probably be resolved in the spin-off, Atlantis.
And I don't get why they were all gushy at the end. I mean, one call to the Asgard and they're good.

All TWO normal ones. The Russian one is the Giza one, recovered from Thor's ship after it crashed in the ocean. SG-1 is currently using the Antarctica one.

See... i'm easily confused here. I must have missed the bit where the Giza one got onto Thor's ship..... I thought it was blown up after being chucked into orbit on an X-302.......

I tell ya what, as far as SG Goes, I wasn't particularly impressed with the action, but, the acting done by O'neill and teal'c quite impressed me.
The "Action" was far too brief, for my tastes though.. Especially for a season finale.
Everything, and I do mean ALL of the plot revealed, tbh, was pretty obvious after they first arrived on the planet...
Ugh I'd go into detail but there'd be no plot left unspoiled, sheesh ¬.¬

Well that stank to high heaven. Based on the amount of hype these episodes were getting I decided to ignore my better judgement and watch them. Unfortunately, I'll never get those two hours of my life back. Utterly, and completely disappointing.

The Gate(s):
The original Gate was recovered during some archaeological dig pre-WW2 in Giza. The DHD for the gate was later found by the Nazi's and stored away as some ancient relic.
The Americans (specifically, Katherine Langford's father) experimented with the gate in the 30's and managed to send Ernest through, but the power failed and he was stuck off-world so they declared him dead and shut the gate down.
In the 90's it was revived with the help of Katherine and Jackson.
Some **** happened.
The Russians ended up with the DHD and loads of SGC files the NID stole.
Carter and O'Neill got dumped out at the Antarctic gate due to an accident. The SGC recovered it.
The NID stole the Antarctic Gate and started running their own operations from it, but they were stopped by the SGC.
In 'Nemesis' (Season 4 Finale methinks) SG-1 needed a way to get off of Thor's Replicator-infested ship (the Beliskner) so they used the in-bound transporters to suck the Giza-Gate onto the ship. The ship then smashed into the ocean and the gate (which the SGC presumed destroyed) was later recovered by the Russians and they started screwing with it.
The SGC unpacked the Antarctic-Gate and started using that.
The SGC negotiated a tech-sharing deal whereby the Russian would stop using the Giza-Gate.
Anubis used an Ancient weapon to cause a power build-up in the Antarctic-Gate which would eventually cause it to explode so they strapped it to the prototype 302 and flew it off into space.
The SGC then started using the Russian-held Giza-Gate (and I can't remember how they managed to get ahold of it).

There was a tech-sharing thing to stop them using the Giza Gate and I think they agreed to have a Russian team in the SGC (as you two say), started actually sharing technology (because they hadn't been) and sent people like Mackay off to help the Ruskies build some Naquadah reactors, so the SGC could get the gate off them.
And even if them Russians told the to sod off, with the Prometheus the SGC coulda just stolen a gate and DHD from some nearby planet.

I dunno, it was a little underwhelming, Earth was being attacked by sodding aliens several thousand people died, a battlegroup destroyed. But the reactions of the President and staff was placid and unworried.
The season 2 episode where those 2 mother ships attack earth and they brick it when their super missiles dont work had a hell of a lot more tension than that!

Yeah, you would think people would notice that. SG1s performance was definitely on form though... but as you say the personel of the White House seemed very unbothered about the possibile destruction of the Human race. Also, when Hammond ordered the Prom. to ram Anubis' mothership - nobody looked to bothered that they were all about to die themselves. Infact, anyones death in that episode didn't seem to matter much, even the destruction of Anubis' ship.
Some good "funny" bits though with O'Niel going la-la... But nothing seemed to come as a suprise to anyone really - which could've been better.
Overall though? Nice stuff... I wonder what they actual lost city is like...

The official line on the battlegroup was "meteor shower".
And the President's lack of worrying was because he knew there was pretty much nothing he could do. He realised that Anubis was going to destroy the planet anyway and only SG-1 could stop him.
So he just sat back, got off some smart-ass remarks at Anubis, and let things play out.
And the Prom crew probably already expected to be dying before they launched. I mean, there's 30 Goa'uld Hatak's in orbit and one super-cruiser, a fleet of Alkesh's and a few squadrons of Gliders against their completely untested 303 and some 302's. And one the first orders they're given is "Defend that transport at all costs". By the time Hammond gave the order to ram Anubis' ship, they'd probably already made out their wills and transmitted funeral arrangements to C'n'C.

ok, got them both now, I watched the second one before the first one, but it seems somehow better after haveing watched the first one, doesn't seem as predictable as it seemed the first time (like the second I saw Ronin, I knew he was working for Anubis) the only thing I didn't realy like the second time through was the ending, I would have much prefered to see Anubis limping off in disgrace only to be hunted down in the next eppisode.
I didn't even mind the jellyfish things nearly at all the second time through (thought it was utterly stupid the first time through) though I still would have prefered to have seen some sort of 'Ubber Beam' or something than the glowwing jellyfish of DOOM!
and the sceen with Anubis' hollogram in the antarctic cavern was... pointless...

Man I hope Vice President Kensy gets to see what is realy going on and that it's not all Jack's fault. Power as he knows it will not be in existance much longer. You heard wrong. JMS pulled the plug on the series when he didn't like where the producers were trying to take the second series.
Besides do you really believe that Crusade ended the way you'd expect JMS arc to end?

One of these days, I'm going to get all the seasons of B5 on DVD... the story I know so far is just great, I really have to watch it. :nod: Atlantis, I feel, will be kinda like SG-1, except we'll have a crapload of better tech.

The X-files episode is pretty good :) If you think it too big a stretch remember that the aliens could have actually have gotten the idea after picking up an episode of the X-files itself :D

Crusade was meant to have a 5 year arc with the plague being finished with in year 2 (if i recall the JMS review correctly). Year 4-5 was meant to be good old fasioned war vs. the Drakh in true blue B5 styleee.

And obviously Ancient weapons can kill Anubis. Hell, he had to surround himself in a shield just to keep from fading into nothingness.

What makes you so sure that he needs a shield to do that?
The effect you see could actually be his physical form itself. There has never been any reference to either confirm or deny this.

well look at apophis. They kept killing him and he kept coming back. All I am saying is don't be suprised if anubis isn't dead. And about atlantis, it will be the crusade of SG1, IT WILL BLOW.

Methinks Baal will probably be replacing Anubis so they won't need to bring him back. I mean, assuming Anubis didn't take his entire fleet to Earth, there'd be lots of advanced ships and shipyards and bases around for Baal to gobble up. And once he's done that he'll probably start taking pot-shots at the Asgard to gauge their technology and effectiveness.
But, unlike the situation with Apophis, I think it'd be pretty cool for Anubis to come back but in a vastly diminshed role. Kinda like some spectre that floating aimlessly through the universe. Or is semi-corporeal again but too physically weak to amass power again, and he wages some kind of guerilla war against the SGC, using the remnants of his Super Soldier armies to basically try and destroy Earth, the Ancients, the Asgard, the Goa'uld and basically the entire galaxy purely out of spite.

Oooh, or have some situation like where he's even more corporeal than before (basically humanoid but kinda fadey) and he comes to Chulak, barely able to walk and begging for help in exchange for telling them how he managed to ascend in the first place.
And he's like
Anubis: I need the Ancient reanimation device!

Anubis: *****.
SuperGuard: ROAR!
Then they double-cross him somehow and have all kinds of kooky adventures.

Basically, he's the only System Lord you're likely to see in the more recent eps, aside from Anubis and possibly Lord Yu (who are both easily identifiable).

Well they'd have to. The Goa'uld are the only threat to Earth now, aside from (arguably) the Aschen and the Replicators.

season 8 is probly going to be a rise of some new super enemy that they will need to use Atlantis to beat
and if Anubis lost all his fleet and stuff he wouldn't be able to maintain his super solders, remember they live for about a month, and you need to keep growing new ones

Wow. I'm still catching up on season 3-7 and I just saw that season finale. Quite a twist, this Atlantis story. Quite intriguing. Time to continue my catch up watching. I've been missing out I see. I just saw an advertisement for Stargate-Atlantis. Is it safe to assume a new cast will take over?

This ep was cool, but the jellyfish didn't look like I thought. It thought it was one big one and it turned out to be a bunch of little ones. BTW, Jack isn't dead.

Nah, it's just the Asgard being dicks again.
Whenever SG-1 screw something up the Asgard are always there to criticise and demand they fix it, and they're always coming 'round asking for favours, but when the SGC is being raped by some alien phenomenon the Asgard are all "I'm sorry, Freyr is not home at the moment. Please leave a message after the multi-harmonic tone".

Anyways, Atlantis looks interesting.
More then likely the Asgard aren't talking since they managed to screw themselves over again by bumping into a race even nastier than the Replicators. (excluding humans :p )

I loved the way this season ended... very cool. But it needed more feeling... and a battle that could match up to DS9's awe inspiring battle in "what you leave behind".
Anyway, here's me looking forward to both season 8 and atlantis!
But... one has to wonder... what happened to WORMHOLE X-TREME!!1!!1! God that was a funny episode... but it'd be funny if they actually made at least one season of that corny mess. "It says Colonel on my uniform for a REASON!"

And the best DS9 battle by far was in Sacrifice of Angels.

It's the one where they're outnumbered 1200 to 600, the Dominion are kicking their asses and Sisko goes "Let's charge the center of their lines" and the Defiant, the Sitak and the Majestic charge. The Sitak and the Majestic get their asses blown to tiny, shiny bits by Dominion Polaron Torpedoes and the Defiant is being hounded by 3 Jem Hadar Fighters. Then all of a sudden the Klingons coming screaming 'outta the sun' and start blasting the **** out of the Dominion flank.

The Asgard couldn't give a crap about Ancient tech because it's all designed to only work for people with specific genetics and it's as much an extension of the user as it is a piece of technology.
And Ancient tech is more advanced than Asgard, the most notable reason being that 30,000 years ago the Asgard were sending out cryo-ships to colonise worlds. Two million years ago, the Ancients were using Stargates to travel between galaxies in mere moments.

The Asgard however are not as "gimme,gimme" as the Tau'ri or the Goa'uld. Their more enlightened, not to mention that they are a mere shadow of their former greatness what with the degradation due to being cloned so much.
