What kind of music do you like, and what bands do you recommend for someone with the following tastes:
1) Lyrics are very important, not just i love you, will you love me too?
2) I like the easier kinds of rock, Nickelback, Jet, Nine Days, Counting Crows, Krezip, Manic Street Preachers, The Rasmus. Stuff like Jonny Cash and Bob Dylan aren't that bad either.
I am kind of running out of good music, at least something i haven't heard a million times before. Any recomendations?
-
You have to download some Westlife.
-
Westlife?
you mean that boyband **** i am tortured with when i turn on MTV?

you guys must have more bands you want to pimp.
-
Oh I do... though people may not agree with them...
1: Rage Against The Machine:
Unrivaled in heavy rock/rap style with feeling behind it all. Sure you might mistake it for teeny angst against everyone and everything - but that can be good sometimes (I don't mind a little Linkin Park, good band - bad fans).
2: The Cooper Temple Clause:
Marmite of the band world. You love them or hate them. I love them - they're incredible live and have some really great songs to their name from varying styles (some heavy stuff, some quieter).
3: Tool:
Another band you either love or hate - again I love them and find their lyrics inspiring. They also have great musical skill. Music videos are a treat to watch as well...
4: A Perfect Circle:
I've only recently gotten into APC, but they consist of some pretty darn good musicians and their songs seem very impressive. Again, recommended to see live :)
5: Within Tempation:
A great band from Europe, perhaps not to everyones tastes but I like them.
That's it for now!

(looks at CD collection)
Ocean Colour Scene (older stuff is best), Stereophonics (ditto), Travis, Feeder, Cosmic Rougth Riders, Snow Patrol, Supergrass, the Bandits, Easyworld, The Charlatans / Tim Burgess, Teenage Fanclub, the Bluetones , Ian Brown (ok, no great tho), The Verve (classic), Richard Ashcroft (see Ian Brown), Stone Roses (ok...bit overrated), the seahorses (good 90s stuff), David Gray, BRMC, Starsailor, coldplay, dodgy, doves, Paul Weller, Haven, The Shining. Soulwax, Lemon Jelly, Embrace (last album is ****e, one before was ok), THe Coral (some great songs, some god-awful songs), Idlewild, Turin Brakes & The Thrills.........

Now, furry fool! Break dance!
Take off you furry pants!
Take off your high heels,
And put them in your ass!
Now somebody is tip-toeing
And someone just came in
And someone's pretty fat
Beastman's pretty thin, no?
I've got AIDS, Beastman AIDS
And I'll spread it in to every good
Boy and girl today!
Etc. Damn that song ownz

i think i just killed my connection :nervous:
-
here's some songs I would recommend at the moment
The Living End - West End Riot
The Living End - There is no Radio
The Living End - Second Solution
erm, thats what I've been listening to lately which would fit your musical preference. Its got a more punk sound than say, Nickelback, but its more or less easy listening.
oh and, I would highly recommend the Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros cover of Redemption Song (by Bob Marley). get the video that goes along with it, awesome stuff.

I love jack johnson, Damien Rice, Ben Harper. if you like bob dylan you will like those aswell.
my music tastes are very varied. other bands i like are:
Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chilli Pepers, Chuck Berry ,White Stripes,
Stereophonics, Oasis, Blur, Datsuns, The Clash, The Who,
The Strokes, Franz Ferdonand, The Corel, Mudvayne, Ministry, Marilin Manson, Mysery Loves Co., Genitorturers and many many many more.....
it would take me to long to catogorise my music collection all i can say is shift through those names and any others people post and "go to thier websites to download legal samples"

I'm "acquiring" quite a lot of stuff right now, some if it sounds pretty nice.
though i have sincere doubts of how much my ISP likes me right now.
-
well if youre into earlier forms of rock then zeppelin/beatles would be up your ally. metallica's Load/Reload/black album may also work they aren't all that fast or bone-crushing like their 80s stuff.
i must also recommend Reign in Blood by Slayer that should fit right in.
-
Bluetones and Foo Fighters sound the best right now, but i haven't even started "sampling" half of your suggestions.
Thanks a lot for all the sugestions, really.
-
Yoko Kanno
Yuki Kajiura
-
I tend to listen to just about anything (except pop music -_-)
but for the most part I listen to
metal
black metal
celtic/pagan
and old school rock
*looks at playlist*
Dimmu Borgir, Children of Bodom, Cradle of Filth, Einherjer, Satyricon, Immortal, Darkthrone, Enya, Black Sabbath, and various soundtracks

I really can't recommend anything specifically, but Feeder makes good stuff.
-
Yoko Kanno rocks, I mean Cowboy Bebop anyone?
-
Yoko Ono doesn't. At all. ;)
-
She rocked Lennon's world.
-
Thunder's bang on about Tool. IIRC their album, "Anemia" has two tracks both 8 minutes long (one actually 13 minutes long) back to back!!
That's cool. Great if you like guitar work too. And get Nirvana "Nevermind" if you haven't already.
Please don't mention Nickleback again though.
-
Actually, Nickelback's early stuff was pretty good. I mean, not great, but good. Then, they got very popular very quickly and became derivative.

Westlife had one good song (that i know of), and that was "Swear it all over again". very badass song. of course i hvaen't heard from them in a few years.
*goes to download more Westlife*

I swear to god it's on St. Anguish purely by accident.
Seriously. :nervous:
Oh, and a cookie to those who can guess what music that is shown on the list.

Aldo, try The Action "Rolled Gold"
Weller considers it a prime influence.

KT was listening to... freelancer music :wtf:
haha and he called it St. Anguish
-
*claps* nice, nice.
but unfortunately that doesn't count. when we were talking about 1000 tracks, we weren't talking about tracks from a game . we were talking about actual songs. not 1 minute and less game music clips.
my current playlist (the one i listen to. i have more MP3s that i don't (well, rarely) listen to.

The Deftones, they rule.

a good song isn't so much talent as it is luck. i if i like a song from a band, it's usually just that one song, even if the band has been around for twenty years and has written hundreds of songs.
-
The Clash
Rudie Can't Fail
Julie's Been Working for the Drug Squad
White Man in Palais
British Civil War
Guns of Brixton
Complete Control
Clash City Rockers
Flogging Molly [Irish folk music meets punk, very original]
Whats Left of the Flag
Black Firday Rule
Rebels of the Sacred Heart
Devil's Dance Floor
-
PhReAk: Hey, I kind of like most of it. It's only the last 30 or so on the list.
Stealth: :wtf: Uhh.. okay. Sorry, I didn't know there were actual rules to a playlist. I figured, you know, the actual length of the list would be it. Apparently I was wrong...
Rictor: Flogging Molly =

dude, ****.
These guys are great, they sound absolutely out of their minds, and I'd hate to live next door to the place where they rehearse, but it's bloody magnificent to hear.
I wish I had a video of them performing live...
-
Boa-Duvet (opening song of Lain)
Twilight
Little Miss
You can get Duvet and Twilight here (http://www.boaweb.co.uk/audio.htm).
-
I have to add 30 Seconds to Mars.
Capricorn and Welcome to the Universe are amazing....
-
Third Eye Blind has some pretty decent soft rock, imo

Try some Jars of Clay. Their easy rock is right up your valley - look for anything on their Eleventh Hour album.
