I'm using DivX Player 2.5.2... about halfway through many movies and clips i watch, sound starts moving out of sync from the video. it starts out just a split second ahead of the video, but after a few minutes, it's 10-20 seconds advanced :D lol ;). i thought at first it was just bad DivX encoded files, but some of the movies i watched weeks ago and were fine are now having the same problems. any suggestions?

Hmm, before you try anything else, have you tried using another player and seeing if the same occurs?
If you don't feel like downloading one, then just goto start->run and type mplayer2 and try that.
We can continue troubleshooting once you're tried that.

i can't play divx formats in mplayer
-
I get the same sort of thing if I have a lot of stuff running in the background, closing everything except the player down usually sorts it out.
-
Wait, let me get this straight. So you have the DivX 5 codec installed, but when you run mplayer2, it _isn't_ able play divx?
-
i only have the DivX 5 PLAYER installed. if you can find me a codec without all the popup and spyware ****, then yeah i'll install that

[color=66ff00]Stealth why don't you get one of the codec packs? Try tsunami or the kazaa lite codec packs. You'll be able to watch DivX in Win media player, winamp video or any other decent player you've got.

Ugh. I strongly advise against it. Codec packs are little devils. Better get only the codecs you need and know they do their job well.
Easier way is not always a good way.

Then you didn't look very hard. Click on the "DIVX" tab at the top, then click on "Standard DivX Codec (FREE)".
Reading comprehension is A-1 SUPAR!

You do realize that the normal version of Divx5 (basic) plays back all divx content and doesn't have the spyware right? Since you've just installed the player, I'm assuming you don't need the encoding extras that the spyware version brings.

oh, thanks Zylon, didn't see that.
let me install this and see if the same problem occurs.
