By KARMA once again, the high poly Tie Fighter:
Talk about it... Ask questions about it... Think about it... Look at it...
-
#2:
-
Pretty, but it looks really blurry...
-
its the jpg itself...
-
ive download him but ony saw in Model viver and look very good.
But for me he is to hi poly:doubt:
-
well, it isn't that high poly (~1200 triangles), consider that I made only some minor modifications to the TF I did for vanilla fs2:)
-
Very nice...
Perhaps post a bigger JPG?
-
when i get home, i'll put up 1024x768... (lvlshot'ed of course)
-
That's fantastic - KARMA made and textured that whole thing himself? :eek2::yes: I can't wait to see in-game.
-
Looks beautiful.
-
are the spokes in the little wing thingys modeled in, cause I think they should be.
-
ehm.. spokes? If you mean the grey struct of the solar panels no, it isn't extruded.
I think that in the (far) future I'll remodel those ships cause I'm not 100% satisfied.
Those are my very first 3d model, I made em when I didn't even know exactly what an uvmap is, I'm just optimizing those models for HTL, adding some elements and removing some visual weirdness.
For the future I'd like to rebuild those ships using better strategies, I'd like for example a more rounded cockpit with a spherical uvmap instead of 2 planar uvmaps (which cause some distorsions), and more detailed solar panels, but for the moment they'll stay as they are
-
If you ask me, modelling those 'spokes' is redundant. You will not be able to see it right in the middle of a sharp dogfight.
But since modelling is not my business, you can consider this post simply as an opinion.
-
while I don't like poly-wastings, in this case it'd give to the solar panels a better lightning, which would be noticeable from distance
-
Yeah, and it would look better if you collide it.
-
Excelent.
I have to disagree with any sceptic opinion about the "usefullness" of these details.
It is especially DURING AN INTENSE dogfight when I realise things like this. Time slows, and things seem to freeze in time - this would be even more apparent if the game were a little harder collision wise so you'd have to be flying more carefully.

Looks very nice! Its about time that FS2 got its own Star Wars conversion.
