Dude, we've already done Gunblades. They were built in the 17th and 18th centuries. They were discarded because the were prone to damage to the barrel which would cause jams and explosions. Today, we have better alloys, but te gunblade would be even more useless than it was back then--unless you're the sort of fanboy freak that likes owning 'real' versions of things found in video games (like that guy that commissioned a Master Sword from the Zelda series).
-
I want a master sword!
-
If only it fired rifle rounds...
-
I don't like it. It's not a high-yield particle cannon.

Cool

The "Noisy Cricket" was cool! :D
-
...Neh, that's just silly. You want a ridiculously overpowered pistol, you go for something you could still probably hit with.

Then you get some of those magnesium 12-gauge shells...

Is he trying to compensate for something or what?

closer to GunCLUB if you ask me..

what does that gauge number mean? size of the shells?
-
Yes. Higher gauge, smaller shell. Anything below ten is pretty rare.
-
Revolver!!! Dude, that things a bloody anti-tank rifle!
-
How dead do you want someone?
-
Well, this way you don't have to worry about inconvenient things like body armor.
And 12-ga. flare rounds are just cool all around, even if they are excessive and probably eat away at the barrel. Shotgun flamethrower! C'mon, you can't get any cooler than that with only one barrel!
-
LOL 'For when you absolutely positively want to kill every mo' f*cker in the room' ;)
Wish I could remember what film that was from :(

Normally, a shotgun just shoots a lot of tiny pieces of metal, right?
what would be more effective, standard rounds or flares?
and dude, i wish Holland had a gun law that allowed you to carry that.
wait, i don't want that. I can't afford that thing, and the criminals are better when they just have knifes.
-
LOL They'd be easier to spot though, just look for someone looking shifty and who walks leaning slightly to one side because of the weight of the damn the damn thing in his pocket ;)
-
Magnesium flare, several thousand degrees heat, effective range of several yards. Yeah, I'd say that's a bit more destructive than buckshot. ;)
The page I know had 'em seems to have dissapeared recently, but I'm sure there are others.
-
now, if only you'd not go to prison for having one of those without a permit over here.
-
*hides his crude flamethrower made from an airbrush*
-
It's just ammunition, I'm reasonably sure weapons laws only cover the weapons themselves.
-
but what use is having the ammo without the gun?
you can only own a gun out here if you're either a hunter with special permit, or you're a member of a shooting range for at least a year, your 18 years old, and both the local police and the gun club say you're fit to own a weapon. And even then you're limited to pretty simple guns, IIRC.
-
...Yuck. No wonder you Europeans get invaded by each other so easily.
-
uh?
last time we've gotten invaded was over fifty years ago.
and the bright side is that gun crimes are fairly rare. The only example i can think of now are some rather infrequent mob hits, robbery's with mock up guns, and one time where a kid shot is vice principal.

Come to think of it, actually, hunting licenses are required in most of the US for gun ownership, too. The "pretty simple weapons" bit is iffy, though- the federal government pretty literally goes all Big Brother on you if you get a Class 3 firearm (machine gun, minigun, etc.), but you can still technically get 'em.
-
Bah...I'll rather take an Automag V any day....

IIRC anything that can fire full auto or bursts is illegal, not sure really. the bottom line is simple, nearly no one has any fire arm, and nobody has anything that compares to military hardware.
-
Actually, it's pretty easy to get an airgun license in the UK, and those can be ramped up to be almost as powerful as a gunpowder side-arm, but much more quiet....
allegedly.....
:nervous:
-
airguns are illegal here too, IIRC.
and anything that looks too much like a real gun would require a license as well.
-
Ghost: I think that'd have more to do with people here being ****ed up. Hell, down south the gun laws are supposed to be much more stringent, but it's there you see the cartels with their own damn armies better equipped than the legitimate ones and stuff.
-
Well... if America had a land connection to Europe, you would have been invaded 50 years ago. (not saying you would have lost, just saying you would have been invaded... like Russia) Europe has lot of small countries (and it is a continent might I add) so invasions were a common thing to have.
So, we're even!! :p :D
So... when is the phaser coming out? :nervous:
-
I dabbled with air gunsa bit a few years ago, back when I could afford it. A hunting rifle needs no licence up to 12 foot-pounds of power, after which you need a full firearms licence. Overpressurising an air rifle is possible (spread some lube oil over the cylinder hole thingumy and the oil ignites when the air is discharged, massively upping the pressure but knackering the rifle after a very short time - NOT recomended).
Currently in this country even air pistols are being viewed with intense suspicion after the spate of incidents in which an air pistol convertd to a 'real' gun was used. See my own air pistols use compressed gas cans and the like, but a Brocock revolver is basically an actual revolver mechanism which fires pellets instead of bullets, with compressed air instead of gun powder. Bit of a jiggy with the barrel and you can load the real deal in it. Tis a popular method among the 'gangstas' these days  Course most people don't appreciate that only this one kind of gun can be converted, and want to ban even relatively harmless pieces of kit like mine (boo)
Here endeth DG's spewing of random facts
-
Yup, that's the danger, and a lot of people also don't realise the danger inherent in converting a gun back to it's original role, especially if it's been used as an airgun for a while. Some models have had the barrel flanged slightly, or have been re-rifled, and those ones are about as likely to kill the shooter as much as the shootee if converted back. This is not necessarily a bad practice ;)
-
Meh. Guns are crap. No skill....
-
I'd rather have the 0.5 cal Desert Eagle. Which, as a matter of fact, I might actually get one of these days. If I get a pistol it's gonna be a Desert Eagle of some kind - unless they're completely uncomfortable in my hand.
-
you behemoth you :p
-
...Why? Those things are so silly-looking... if you want a huge gun, yeah, that's understandable, but make sure it actually does something. An oversized pistol just defeats the purpose, and I hear they're bloody inaccurate too...
SOCOMs are better, anyway. H&K is like the Jesus of things that go "bang".
-
Yeah, ugly and inaccurate. Yuck.

My dad had one of these, until he learned that just the reciever alone would get you 10 years in jail...
He showed it to my grandfather, who, in proper fashion, sh*t a brick, and then sold it for $1000. It's worth 25, but he didn't want to get caught.

Darn, how did he come to be in posession of one? I mean assuming it was in good condition it would be worth a hell of a lot - historians and what have you collect that kind of thing, even if it's deactivated.
-
What, this is like the random gun show now?
Whatever.
My baby... Nother hundred and I'm gettin' one of these. (http://www.gunbroker.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=15652905) Supposed to fix all the accuracy problems of the original without losing the nice little "basically never jams" bit. AND with a bit of futzing it'll go full auto. Whee!
Sandwich, the whole point of a pistol is it's supposed to be compact and portable. Y'know, lightweight, snub nose, fits in your hand right, reasonable recoil. And cheap. A Desert Eagle is none of these. It's a pistol that wants to be a rifle, but lacks the best virtues of either. Yeah, they're huge. Yeah, they look funky. But you know what? I could make a big scary gun in my woodshed that shot goddamn concrete-filled grapefruit cans for ammo. It wouldn't make it something worth paying for.
If you really want to go for the Freudian thing, like I said, just get a 14" shotgun (or whatever the legal limit is in Israel, if there is one), they're cheaper and better weapons, and make a much louder "bang" to boot.

He bought it from a ww2 vet at a garage sale. :D Gotta love GI bringbacks.
Oh yeah, my dad's a ww2 collector/dealer, so I've seen almost everything at one time or another. He also fancies the Japanese swords, and has a couple from high point makers.

@Sandwhich - Not my falut...The site was French and they didn't translate very well... regardless, the Automag V rulez!

Yeah a gun that big would be pointless. Too big, too heavy, the recoil would be sick. You'd get one shot off and probably be dead before you could fire another.
