Wow, about time! It's been the leading cause of death among humans for thousands of years. Animals, too, although I understand fish aren't negatively affected by it.

We should soak Thermite in it then use an aluminium-base charge to ignite it.

In theory, it'd work like something between a flash-bang and an atomised particle explosion.

Old.  Understand that this is so old, I know about it and think it's old.

IIRC this was old even before I started using the net.

Hell, it probably even pre-dates Mik's having-the-net-ness.

Still funny though, reminds of when I sold some 'dehydrated water' to a 'friend' of mine so he could go camping ;)
Well, it takes up less space that way! ;)

Indeed. It actually predates the Internet by three decades.

A master plan, kode! The only problem is, you can't exactly drink it without some dihydrogen-monoxide and live to tell the tale :sigh:
Maybe we are stuck with it.

The dihydrogen monoxide hoax is old, but the article about a town in California actually trying to ban it is quite new. From yesterday, in fact, according to the date on the website.

We're more into crushing our grapes versus drying them actually. :p

But your crushed grapes don't sing and have odd Christmas specials, do they?

"In soviet Russia, road forks you!"

Actually, nowadays, in post-soviet Russia, Putin crush you. After all, Putin crush free speech, Putin crush political opponent, Putin crush fair election, Putin crush Chechnya, Putin crush economic reform, Putin even crush your testicles... (Well, there haven't been any allegations of that last one yet, but I figure it's only a matter of time... Welcome to the new Russia, same as the old Russia...)

And as for the dihydrogen monoxide article, it's technically true, from a legal standpoint. If you ingest too much dihydrogen monoxide at once, your lungs will be unable to tolerate and/or process it. That's a classic definition of what a toxic substance does.

That fact that most people call this "drowning" is just layman's quibbling over details. ;)

God, I love being a lawyer. :D

Not quite, but close. They're a right-wing fascist dictatorship now, in place of a left-wing socialist dictatorship. Different idealogically, exactly the same in the effect on policies and the people under it's dominion.

Seems to be a sort of trendy rut Russia is stuck in...

A trendy rut involving bloody, repressive dictatorships? Yeah, that sounds about right. The rut has been going on for a thousand years.

And, unlike most places in the world, Russia's population is actually shrinking. Most Russians casually drink so much it qualifies them as full-blown alcoholics anywhere else in the world.

 I knew someone would say that. Didn't know who or when, but I knew.

And for the record, I don't believe what I believe "just 'cause", I've studied alot, questioned my faith, and I always, always come back.

But lets not turn this into another religious topic, m'kay?

Well it WAS intended as a joke. ;) We can discuss the more serious bits of the joke over in the Religion thread. ;)

No doubt.

But I will decline the invite. I'll only be told to read such and such, that I'm a bigot, that I am ignoring science, or something along those lines.

Nah, seriously, we've been working hard to keep it sane. Its too much fun actually DISCUSSING it for once, instead of fighting about it.
