hey everybody, You all now the scaling problem with freespace 2 and how if they changed it, it would mess stuff up. But I remember someone saying
if you really want it so bad then remodlle the ships yourself
so I'm going to take the capships and resize them. What do you think. Is it possible, am I way off base. DO NOT FLAME I'm just trying to help
-
I think it's imposable and way off base but it's you next fourty years spend them doing what ever you want, I'd recomend multiplying there sizes by 20
-
It has indeed beed discussed before. Make the ships larger if you like, but ultimately it isn't an issue of scale. It's perspective and field of view, and there isn't a lot that can be done with that. Rescaling stuff will break just about everything but your own custom missions.
-
The thing is, the relative sizes of the ships are mostly just fine. The problem is that it doesn't _look_ the right size. It'll take the proper amount of time to fly along an Orion at 100m/s, but it doesn't feel like you're traveling that _fast_.
-
well if its going to break everything...
I'm not going to waiste my time.
thanks:)
-
fact is that fs(2) fighters are way to slow.
-
"FACT" is they are to slow and the scalling is off by 20x I think
-
yeah. Not much we can do about that, can we? ( the speed, I mean ).
-
well... actually... the tables. you know...
-
When I said this argument had been gone through before, I meant just that. It's an FOV issue. Unless you are going to screw around with the way things are canonically scaled (2km for an Orion, 6km for the Colossus, etc) you're going to get no tangible gain, some whacked out AI, and a generally unhappy FS2. See this thread for the previous argument and my little render demonstration:
