would it be possible to:
1. have impact explosions render in front of geometry instead of intersecting it? (so you don't get half of it inside the ship)
2.have impact explosions stay with the target (like shield hit effects) instead of staying where they were created?
that's all.

I think it still looks great, and don't wory, I have something similar to what you want planned for down the road a bit
