I've not tried these in game yet but just looking at them in Aniview they look pretty damn impressive.

I started doing impact effects along with my weapons zip (subach / mekhu = done) :)

I like them but I think they last too long. When shooting at a fighter the impact effect lingers in space long after the fighter has moved. If they had a shorter duration they'd be much better IMHO.

you know there's some PIEs with my effects too, right? :)
Only thing is they're not complete (i.e. not for every weapon) so :rolleyes:
However, i'll soon be able to release finished primary weapons (all primary weapon types + all primary weapon graphics + all primary weapon PIEs) - been working around with them the last days, and i'm about 70% finished on primaries.

I know, I kept your PIEs for the Mekhu and Subach since I liked those.

They do, same way Lightspeed's do.
Frankly, if you take Lightspeed's effects and make the maxim use the default values instead of $ballistic, his tables would be usuable for multi.
I suppose as soon as he finishes, he can make a multiplayer VP.

kaz, maybe there could be a way to check the important gameplay values within a table rather than doing an md5 on the table (or what ever it is that you do), so that trivial eyecandy tweaks don't break multi-player.

Except Lightspeed's changes aren't all trivial. By making the Maxim into a ballistic, which, while cool, may in fact mess with the game balance a bit in multi.

well my point still stands, people shouldn't realy be kicked for haveing hacked tables if all they did was add some AB trails, or use some diferent graphics

Suppose the parser could be made to look for certain tags deemed to be "dangerous" to game play and to look for values that cannot be changed (fire rate, damage, damage types, extra effects).

The red laser blast would make better muzle flashes if you ask me but can we do that yet with the SCP current verson?
make some for the Capship weapons some nice big bright beam hit effects would rock for some added eye candy to the normal game. I would perfure one laser hit effect for all lasers but thats me like a small flash.

Which is why i'm gonna release a special multiplayer-friendly version of them when they're done.
I've also changed some other things that will be taken out for the multi version :)

Ehhh, didn't know where else to post this, but since I tried out Carl's modifications, I just realized that all my missile trails, and weapon effects have disappeared. I can still see the missiles, but no trails, and I can't see my primaries before they impact. Any suggestions, or should I just reinstall?

what comand lines are you useing?

Huh? I'm using fs2_open_3_5, but I have no idea if that comes even close to answering your question. Basically, I had FS2 installed, I d/led fso 3.5 and installed it, I d/led Lightspeed's shinemaps and new primaries and installed those, and lastly I d/led Carl's impact effect and installed those. After all this, I've ended up with the problem I stated above. Perhaps I messed something up when I did the table hacking? Oh yeah, I also installed the Herc 3. Hope this helps..

the latest official is 355, but even that is ancient.
go to the latest builds forum (SCP subforum) and pick a new build up there. and grab a new launcher.
click the link under my name and go to the SCP section for more info.
