Hey, found something really cool:) If your curious about where some freespace systems habitable zones and the orbits of there stars then look here (http://www.solstation.com/orbits.htm) :D
SOl, CAPELLA, ALDEBARAN, ALPHA CENTAURI, SIRIUS, LUYTEN, PROCYON
-
http://dynamic4.gamespy.com/~freespace/fsdoc/index.php/Stars%20and%20Planets
and this is the info on these systems from the wiki, it might be worth the time to add some real data in that too.
-
I really should have mentioned SolStation's habitable zones diagrams before :D
Still I've linked to their site several times :)
-
hehhehe Interesting stuff though :)
-
does anyone no a site like this one that has more and kasperl do you want someone to add system information on the wiki?:)
-
any adding to the wiki is great, and i mean that.
-
I wouldn't mind, how do I do it?
-
Check the Wiki thread, I expect poor Kasperl is wearing his keyboard down from typing the url ;)
-
well, no, the phrase, "click the link under my name to take you to the wiki" is doing that.
-
Well, how do I edit... who do I sign in as??
-
JdJtcagle
just an example, RTFM, please, RTFM.
-
Hate to ask but is that "recheck the field material"
what does that mean:p
-
it means.....Read The Help Page.. well, no it doesn't but the senitment remains ;)

The Internet Stellar Database (http://www.stellar-database.com/) - Details on just about every visible star, Also has a very handy distance calculator that will show all the stars within a certain number of Light Years. This is Incredibly useful when you want to work out how long it would take a ship to reach another system (not so much for Freespace but for any universe like Star Trek or B5 where distance is a factor).
The site is basically designed for scientists and astronomers but that simply means that it gives you lots of info you don't need. You can just ignore it and take what you want :)

nice link, Kara.
i just grabbed the acces file of the dbase, and it is usable without the website. if you have Acces 97 or newer, then you can grab the 2 meg file and safe yourself the trouble of depending on net acces. The tables get quite messy off line, but if you take a little time to learn to use it, it is quite handy.

I compiled this quite a while ago, thought it might be useful to the threads' purpose. Although some info may be different as it was collected from several sources, especially the RA and DEC.
Star Systems ("http://home.iprimus.com.au/nexus387/forums/star_systems.zip")

Really nice work there.:)
add all that to the Wiki!!
-
personally I would but I don't have the time...:( still I think half the information in the file is straying away from what the wiki was intended to be for Freespace

Wiki is weird. You need to type in your login with two capitol letters. Like TheEishtmo for me. It's weird and stupid.
