Title: Swords
Post by: an0n on March 22, 2004, 01:09:18 pm
I want one.

I was thinking of starting off with a nice, imposing ninja-sword for like £40.

But the point is, I intend to get a nice, expensive, battle-ready, ultra-sharp sword.

Any ideas?

owned.

As for swords, hmm, well a katana or variant thereof seems easier to handle and more useful in a practical sense. I doubt very many people could actually handle a 5-foot claymore very well.

I was thinking about a Paul Chen Blind Fury.

Looks cool and has the bonus that I can take it outside to **** people up with without it being too obvious.

And Kasperl, you insufferable little man-toad, I have money but I have no steady source of money. So I can either save up for 6 months to pay for 3 weeks of rent before I have to move back, or I can blow cash as I get it and move out once I have a stable source of income.

has everything you ever wanted in weapons :D (well almost anyway...)
they even have cannons.
Personally I prefer to drool over the katana swords though

and an0n,  you could, if you would get of your lasy ass, go out and get a job. Manual labor somewhere? Packaging stuff? Working in the metal industry? I hear those guy's are begging for someone to work for them, since everybody thinks it's too low for them.

I'm really not in the mood to be baited into a flame-war just to make your droll little life more interesting.

It's also by far the sharpest.

I don't want one for show. I want one so that when some little 12 year old gets smart I can **** him up.

And you need a sword for that? Maybe British 12 year olds are super strong or something.

And those prices are really cheap. Like 10-20 pounds for most swords.

Katana and can become a spear

I thought you were going for traditional, in which case the traditional Katana is a poor choice for the novice swordsman, as it requires alot of maintenance due to it's construction.

All swords are poor choices for an untrained schmuck.

A pencil is dangerous for an 'untrained schmuck'.
Title: Swords
Post by: Fineus on March 22, 2004, 02:36:20 pm
It would help if you just admitted to yourself that you just want it for the "cool" factor. You've no training in the weapon and so combat capabilities mean nothing. Sharpness also means nothing since - as you pointed out - a pencil can be dangerous even if someone is untrained with one. Hit hard enough and you'll still cut someone - and while that is illegal, I'll humor you and assume that's why you want it.

Ergo you could just as easily pick up some piece of crap on EBay and use it for the same purpose - sharpness doesn't matter.

Display pieces. An interesting alternative to a painting or poster on a wall.

If people supposed you planned to use them for anything more then you probably wouldn't be allowed to buy one.

Wolvy claws! Me want! :D LOL

Edit : Actually, I'll stick with the Shuriken and throwing knives, I've always been a ranged attack person. I'd use the Bow, but try and string one of those in a rush and you're likely to lose half your teeth ;)

Combined with the sword, that projects some truly terrifying images ;)

Yes but your average mongoloid idiot generally doesn't stab himself with a pencil.

Untrained idiots with sharp swords have an unfortunate (depending on your darwinian point of view) to gash themselves or stab themselves in the foot.

I seem to recall somewhere that 32% of knife and point injuries are self-inflicted, though I will have to check my facts on that one :)

As long as I miss my juggular I'll end up with some cool scars I can tell girls I got fighting hand-to-hand against Taliban militants in the deepest jungles of Towlistahn.

Yes, people who support the Taliban and are not armed. They do exist you know. One of these days, someone is going to ask, "is there such a thing as a Palestinian non-militant". Just you wait.

Of course there isn't. There's no such thing as a Palestinian OR Israeli non militant, it seems. Just means more targets, I guess.

That's exactly what it is ..... I think it's a mounted horsemans sword, and it's a Bruce clan design.

My Dad got it as part-payment of a debt (he used to do agenting work, and one of the companies went bust owing him money - so we got the sword to try and cover it)
