So does anybody like it??
Better than original??
I know this is small and easy. But, I really wanted to do something to improve it:)

It doesnt look much more different, except the ring around the Capella Sun is just smaller and less thick then the mass we had of Shivan Juggernaughts. Other then that I dont notice much more of a difference...

If you want to improve it, try making them appear to be facing different directions, in this example, the star instead of having all facing right...

Much better :)

Now as .::Tin Can::. said, start adding more jug's :D into the picture and positioning them to face the star... some facing their back to you or at least part of it instead of being totally to the right or left. Either way, it is improving. :)

It's getting there.  How are you making the image exactly?  Photoshop?  Or are you rendering the sathani out?  If it's the latter, move the axis out of one and place it where the star (theoretically) is.  Then use the rotation tools of the render program to rotate all of the sathani about the star so it actually looks like they are all facing it.

And while we're on the subject, anyone else notice how the Saths are WAY out of proportion there?  They look like they should be like 10x as big as, say, Jupiter.

I use paint and Fred:)
I don't think there out of prportion really, I mean that's pretty big compared to a Yelllow Giant.

and just so ya'll now this works for any star.  Any star mod you have the Sathanas will show up.:)

Wow, no offense jdjtcagle, but that post is about as ignorant of relative size, proportionality, and well, reality, as you can get.  There are about four main reasons.

[list=1]

So my point isn't intended to be a negative criticism of your recreation of the :V: original, it's of :V: for doing something so outlandish in the first place.  Almost everything else in the game is at least to a reasonable scale, but the Saths there are a notable exception.

Ture all of it, actually.:D
Ok, I've just got the sudden urge to redo all FS2 mission's stars. to make them match the real thing.
Do you want me to make them smaller or increase the size of the ring around the star so the perspective looks like there closer.

I think the Sathanisis should be more spread out and diverse across the sun, like, not just horizontal but kinda all over the place.

play the original missions with it, and you'll see that they are:)

The Juggernauts are not only HUGE compared to their star, but they are also no more than 8 times their width from the star. Now lets say they have the diameter of Earth, as I said earlier. Then they sit aproximately 900,000 km from the star. By comparison, Mercury orbits at about 58 million km from the Sun and cooks. So those things are in the star's outer corona, not exactly a friendly place for any ship.

In Freespace, Capella is a medium yellow, much like our own sun.

Even if they were as big as planets and somehow were able to remain in the corona of the star, then there is no way you'd be able to see them as more than mere dots from the distance of a planetary orbit as in the last FS2 mission. Not to mention that they'd be drowned out by the star.

Or maybe they are closer to you than they were in the original background...

Try doing a more smooth passage from the facing left and right jugs :D to the ones in the center instead of making them 0º 45º 90º 135º 180º

Nope. Look at the last mission and the cutscene that follows immediately after it. The Saths are millions of kilometres away from you. [V] screwed up big time.

But then FS2 physics aren't that real anyway and the effect looks cool so I figure why not :D

I think the Sathanis's need to be more spread out, making kinda of a sphere around the sun and NOT a think line around it. You know where i'm coming from, right? ;7

If you look at the Command Briefing animations from the last few missions of FS2, you'll see one which shows the Sathanas fleet in a ring around the Capellean star, NOT a sphere.  That's why he's showing it as a ring.

Excactly but I'm thinking about redoing them to stretch around farther so it will look better on the perspective.
Plus, on the last mission I'll make them alot closer and smaller.  But, In order to do that you'll have to download my missions in the other thread.

Sounds good, although to compensate for some of the scale issues already discussed, I'd advise that you either reduce the size of the ships, or increase the span of the ring.  I'd say triple the ring span, and reduce the size of the sun by the same factor (1/3).  After looking at that CB ani, such changes would probably match up well... assuming that ani was supposed to be anywhere close to being to scale.

Later!

Good, but only for a start.  Render it, fix the size/distance problem...

You'll probally here from me later today:)
But since I'm going to fix the size problem, it's going to be included in my Missions VP in the other thread
