Post by: boewolf on March 23, 2004, 01:25:12 am
I have parts for a pirate super station.  An all in one facility.  Bigger than superjug, with almost as much firepower.  Ship yards, Knossos all in one.

The inteanded fighterbay

The Capship drydock

The anti jug beam weapons

And last the Priate Knossos

I have these parts but i am having trobble making the main body of the station.  Does anyone have any good sugestions?

you could connect them with struts. struts are good.

also, why would pirates have such a huge station? aren't they too much of a loose, rag-tag bunch to have the resources and cooperation to build something that big?

Hmm, the idea you're planning would be better as GTVI HQ or something.

If you wanted a massive pirate installation...maybe a base cobbled together from wrecked ships, like cruisers, destroyers and the like.

Whatabout the Taidani raiders from HW 1?

They had this 1 big super base.

Space was a lot bigger in Homeworld though, plus the fact that the turanic raiders were less of a priate faction and more of a backwaters nation.  With the way space travel is developed in Freespace and how it is controlled (plus the fact that there are very restricted points of access from one system to another), the chances of pirates having a capship of any kind, much less a knossos, are rediculously small.

The secret SOC base could work.  I never thought of it...  But that does sound like a better description for a base with everything on it.  That still leaves me with the main hull.  Working on some ideas but nothing worth showing yet.

Beo, just one question (not trolling):

Why you always make superbig ships? Like your last two ships were Terran and Vas superjugs..?

why doesn't anyone try makeing pirate bases out of what they would likely be made out of, old cargo contaners.
every time they steal one there base gets bigger, even empty cargo contaners would be very valuable to them.

If you could see my smaller ships you would see why.  I realy don't do a good job of them.  So I only show what could be a good idea or has potential.  Oh and one last thing.  I am not nor have i ever felt then need to "compensate" for anything

Dude, you really need to not take that sort of comment around here seriously.

As for sticking to big ships, I don't really see that logic.  The stuff you've shown here look cruiser-ish to me, but you always label it 'Superjug'.  Work on the smaller stuff first, and your larger models will only improve as you get better at the smaller ones.

ok.  something smaller.  how about an RBC?

Sorry for no shinemaps.  the pics were taken in modleveiw.  it uses two slightly weaker beam cannons and two sets of secondary banks, one anti fighter cluster missles and one anti capship missles.  I also included a small AWAC radar for good mesure.

Do you think that it is worth anything?

It needs fins.

Hmm... would make a wonderful assault/boarding trasnport... just places engines where you places the actual turrets and add some lesser weapons on the other side...
You may want to rethink the topside, but it can be done by removing the dish and adding a rotating turret...

Probably because of the fact that the secondary weapon ports resemble engine exhausts.

I would add rotating turrets but that reacks havok with the rotation of the turret itself.  from what i have noticed it will attack with the rotating turret and not the main weapons.  sometime i will post a pic of an offensive transport that i did a while ago.

RBCs would fit perfectly into a skeleton-crew-type pirate base. Very nice. :)

You can definately go two ways here. This could be an RBC (with some changes) or it could be pretty groovy freighter. One thing I would do is get rid of the dogleg bend in the beam nacelle struts. Just set them on a direct angle.

That said, you've given me three different ideas for craft here. ;)
