meh, the mailserver was slow.
-
i like the shading, especially on the jeans. The face is a bit odd, and the elbow on her gun hand seems to thin. Otherwise, it's nice. Are you going to colour it?
-
yup was never good at faces and you might be right about the elbow i'll work on it somemore then maybe colour it =) print out a copy and colour it incase i mess it up lol =) colour doesn't rub out so easily

While Nico's is the best, the eyes and head seem a bit funky :)
Turnsky's, tho, with some improvement, could top Nico's :).

But you actually have to make it, not just modify something, would be too easy :p
-
I might as well have made a model from scratch considering how much of a pain in the butt it was to port the poser character :p
The clothing is mine, I saw some stuff on Renderosity and didn't want to pay the cash so I did as good of an "inspired work" as I could off of the product photos with a few tweaks. (Sure pirating would be easier, but I've never gotten one of those filesharing programs to work right) I'm not the world's best modeler so it means that they don't have any fancy morphs or cloth simulation though, so that's why it looks pretty rigid.
I'm pretty happy with the way the procedural textures turned out though.
The baret and rifle are an experiment using primitives to form the shapes.
But hey, I'm slowly but surely getting better at modeling, eventually I can scrap the cheesy poser figures :)
Consider it an original collage' Venom ;)
French Resistance, eh? That's what a baret does to you I guess :)

Well, okay, so she doesn't have big big guns, but they're kinda big, anyway.
And if you don't know what I mean, see fer yaself (http://www.boomspeed.com/atalhlla/big-guns.gif) :P
And, ofcourse, detail on the guns she's weilding. (http://www.boomspeed.com/atalhlla/guns.gif)
I know, it was drawn kinda quickly and without too much direction, which kinda ruined it. I still kinda like her, though. The guns could prolly have been drawn better.
Yay for big guns!

I have a sketch but my scanner is f*cked :(
-
cooking something up, I'll post when its done and scanned.
By the way, Turnsky do you recommend I go over the final lineart in think black marker before scanning, and then erase as best I can all the sketchy lines and so forth? I'm always reading about people using India Ink pens and all these sophisticated sounding items which I have no idea what they are, all I gots is a thing Sharpie type deal.
-
For what it's worth, the Photoshop pen tool is my new best friend

for lineart? these:
i use a gel ink ball-point for foxfire, only 'cause it's more durable for the speedy inkwork i usually have to do for the comic.
-
Up until my house ate it (like 6 months ago), I used a .05 mm Copic as my liner. :P
As far as I've seen, though I'm prolly wrong, there's not much difference between the Copics and Pigmas, aside from colour selection.

I dunno, it depends what you're shooting for. One picture I drew awhile back I just rough sketched pencil, then went over it with a small sepia pen, and left the pencil in. Some, I ink with a pen, erase the graphite, then colour. And I've never used India inks, before. I'm still in the position where I don't know what half (more than...)that stuff is. Best to work with what looks good to you. If there 're lotsa little details or something, I wouldn't suggest a big marker :P On the other hand, if you want it to have thick lines, go on ahead.
Personally, I wouldn't go larger than a 0.5 mm pen for line art, but that's just me.
Have fun with your art, and enjoy creating!

WIP, but you get the idea
(http://home.cogeco.ca/~llebl/blabla1.gif)
Now, in her left hand she could either be holding a flag or some sort of flare/grenade. Any ideas? I wasn't really thinking when I drew it. I could put that nice world domincation thing I drew up on the flag...
edit: Is it clear that she is holding a gun, or does it look like she has a "gun hand" like megaman? I thought it was pretty clear that the gun is obscuring her hand, that why you don't see it, but then again I drew it so I'm not a casual observer.
-
She looks like she's male.
-
Piss off:D :D
She's clearly got everything in place to be a female. Just don't like to overdo it. Plus, the waist is too small for a guy. And the hair and lips.
You've been watching to much anime, with chicks on unreal and unappealing proportions ;);)
____
I coloured the WIP, just for kicks. I'm going to re-scan the picture when I've done he lineart in pen or marker, so please keep in mind that this lineart is very, very rough and messy. Some of the colouring wil probably change as well.

I really should update the drawing I have on my FTP with the one in my book, with the gun and preliminary outline of the pose done, but Here's a head:
I 'll have to commandeer my scanner from my Parents again for that, however. (bloody indian givers)
Edit: Oh, it's supposed to be a reptilian sniper. I have a sniper rifle drawn, and brought up to the char's cheek on paper, and he's laying down, but yeah, it's inside... Can't wait to move again.
-
I've definitely have my own style down!!!:)
and there's alot more where these came from.

because I don't know:D
and plus thats for you to decide.

uhm, you two do realise that you've broken from the theme of this..

Could be a reptilian female... It's only a head.
And I don't care anyway. :p
-
Hey guys, where is everybody? I guess you're all silent cause you're working hard on the drawings. :D:D
I'm working on mine and have the lineart done and ready to be scanned. I already worked out the colours on a rought scan, so colouring should go quickly.
The thing is, I've two version of the picture in my head, both in art and in colour. But I have to get both these version from the same piece of art, which means I'll have to draw in the changes on the same illustration and then remove them in photoshop.,
We should have this every month, it makes me get up and start drawing. I've been drawing for a long time, but in the past few years its been kind of scarce. And now, when I get myself to sit down and draw, I'm loving what I come up with. Seriously, every month we should get a theme going and then square off. That would be fun.
-
and here we go! (http://nodewar.penguinbomb.com/aotd/Turnsky/Images/ingramgirl.jpg)

Nice, but I thought the headband was pretty 1337. Excellent work, as always there turnsky.

Turns :
The Ingram girl looks nice. Just one quip :
Soft shading. While I'm sure I couldn't do better, I just don't like that soft shading.. It just seems to lack defnition. How much time did you spend on it? :P

Turnsky wins! :D
Hey, we should do a battle royale, where the theme is Freespace! :D
-
thx
-
*slight update*
okay, a few things..
1) i'll let somebody else decide the next artist's battle Royale theme and ground rules 'cause i'd be a little biased.. ;)
2) i'll be kinda busy with the new look for foxfire so don't expect much input from me..
3) i'm gonna post a process to how i /create/ a panel of foxfire, which will be in another topic, stay tuned... it's gonna be from sketch to near the finished point (after dialogue).
-
Well, I kinda agree with UT's suggestion. A FS battle royal. Only this time anything is allowed (from renders to sketches/drawings. After all, renders are art too ;))
