The problem is it can be seen in 2 ways, it could be him making a very poor attempt at alleviating the embarassment of not finding WMD's or it could almost be seen as him laughing because everyone bought the story in the first place :(

I think its the latter.

THAT is why no one likes Bush... :( Seriously, a president that sends a whole country to war where his countrymen and other countries citizens died... and then makes it a laughing matter? Does anyone still have doubts about his insanity?

War is never funny..........unless it's against the French.

No... against the French it's not even funny... it's just sad... and boring.

W. T. F?!

i cannot believe people are actually mad at this! why would families of troops get mad? the troops aren't looking for WMDs, they're shooting terrorists. what a bunch of retards.

It's because he's admitting he ****ed up by starting the war with Iraq, then laughing about it.

WMDs aren't the reason he started the war, he didn't like Saddamn. He just used WMDs as a execuse. There probably somewhere, in the desert.

I remember, back in the day, when he said he wanted Iraq in flames because they were funding Al Qaeda.

People seem to forget little things like that.

And that was true?  I thought that was made up to support the war.

Hell, Libya was part of the Axis of Evil not that long ago, 2 days ago, Tony Blair was being all nicey to him.
It must be terrible to shake hands with a vindictive, self possesed dictator, but I'm sure Gaddafi will get over it ;)

Damn liberal media! Them and Al-Qaeda drugged the president and forced him to tell jokes and laugh about Iraq! Those unpatriotic families of the soldiers got upset about it too!

GOD BLESS MERKA!

Duh.

But no-one ever comments on the fact that Bush changed his tune when everyone started to go "Uh, no. Iraq's not supporting terrorists". All of a sudden he went from "Iraq is funding Al Qaeda" to "Iraq might have weapons of mass destruction that it might be willing to sell to terrorists who we've already supposedly killed".

Gold.

and Carl, so you know, American GIs are not shooting terrorists, rather they are shooting resiatance fighters which do not fall under the classification of terrorists simply for attacking the US.

Yup.

If they're fighting on or near their home soil and are part of a structured heirarchy, they're not terrorists.

And I'm rather impressed with the BBC for refering to them as resistance, rather than terrorists.

What is interesting is that my best friend is fighting in Iraq right now.  It is scary thinking about him holding a gun.

He says it sucks being over there, he wants to have internet access all the time.

Bush Sr. should have finished the job to begin with. Why he wasn't removed back then, who knows. Does anybody know? Does that show US weakness? Nah.

An assassination attempt at Bush Sr. during Middle East visit. Evidence points to Iraq prompts a Clinton reaction of couple of cruise missiles launches over to some targets. Rather than confront Hussein directly, taking out targets and triggermen

Hussein kicks out UN inspectors. Hmmm thats fishy, nah, let him chill.

3 planes go kamikazee resulting in the first attack on American soil for decades. BAD NEWS. America gets demoralized.

A sign to more organized enemies, "The US is vulnerable"

America goes UBER defensive. They take out Al-Queda training camps and Taliban along with a number of pretty mountains.

Bin Ladin's ghost pops up in video and/or audio recordings.

Memories of Iraq doing fishy things resurface. They give UN a hassle proving their usefullness NULL.

Iraq becomes a target. WMD is the motive.

Please fill in the blanks people. These are the events as I remember them.

You forgot the "Iraq funds Al Quaeda", "Give me a connection between Iraq and Al Quaeda", and the massive Haliburton contracts.

I think you forget the first words out of Europe after 9-11 were "he'd better not use this to invade Iraq"

Saw this in the local news. I don't even bother trying to think the world's leadership is reasonable any more. :sigh:

Personally, I thought he'd go for the Saudi's and/or Iran first. I mean, sure they're harder targets but they'd be the leaders of any organised mass-defence.

And it'd've broken OPEC's back, reducing the economic attacks they could launch through the oil.

The Saudi ruling family likes the US government, and vise versa. Iran, I could believe, but they may have gone after Saddam because he would have no allies whatsoever, whereas Iran could quite possibly have a few other powers step in to assist.

One of the first things i heard in the media (i.e. the analysis) after bush was elected - and this was before 9/11 - was the expectation that bush would want to finish his daddys job by going after Iraq.

That sentence makes little sense. Who gives the UN a hassle? The US or Iraq? And why would that prove their uselessness?

Well, the UN is useless because it set out a mandate for finding and destroying WMD in Iraq.  Obviously, this was completely unacceptable because, um...........

help?

Iraq and Kuwait together means that the US could theoretically be the last country in the world to have oil to fuel their tanks, planes and artillery. Why invade now when it'll be so much easier in 30 years? ;)
Title: .....yet strangely accurate....
Post by: an0n on March 27, 2004, 06:08:26 pm
Because in 10 years everyone is going to get mighty pissed at the US destroying the environment and cut off America's oil supply by whatever means neccessary.
