Could someone please tell me how to block certain websites from just coming on without a reason??
-
Hmm.... Probably an adware program or virus of some kind. Try running an antivirus program and an anti-adware program. Also, try deleting your temporary internet files.
-
Ok...
Virus finds nothing, PC- Cillin 2000
Spybot doesn't work anymore and never will as it looks..
ad-aware doesn't pick it up
Zone Alert doesn't block it
What's going on??
-
Did you try clearing out your temporary Internet files? Or updating the definitions for AdAware and PC-Cillin?
-
Temporary files when I delete themm they come back immediatly:(
Although, It seems like the PC-Cillin updates never work, because It always tells me that I need to download them when I just did, and that's very troubling.
-
may have fixed it, but only time will tell.
Man, I'm so sick of these problems:)
Edit: one virus found
-
I'd suggest a different antivirus program. Either Norton or McAffee (sp?).
-
Why does it say that it was unable to clean so it was quaritined??
should I worry??
Edit: 2 virus found
could not be cleaned??? why???!!
Edit: 3 found

thought I should say that there has been atleast 7 viruses found but not cleaned only quarintined. Is this Bad???
-
yes, it's what one would describe as bad.
I think it's time for a format
-
format??
-
yess you know that thing were you save all your important files, make _damn_ sure you have all the dirvers and data to rebuild your internet conection, grab the windows intalation disc, restart the computer with it in the drive and delete all partitions on the disk then make a new one ~6-7 gigs for windows and another one compriseing the rest of the disk for data
-
why not just 1 partition? That is what I always do. Am I missing something?
-
Having the system files separate from the regular files allows you to save your data without backing it up in the event of registry corruption and the like. In my opinion, 4.5GB should cut it for the system partition, since that's more than enough for Windows XP and the page file.
-
Ok, those words have scared me now...
Maybe..., I'm doing something wrong with my settings. If it say that a Virus was found that could not be cleaned but only quaritined, then how do I get rid of the quaritine.
I'm sorry... I know that's the wrong spelling.
-
Run your virus check in safe mode if you aren't already.
What virus is PC-cillin reporting?
-
Ok, finally got rid of the virus thing.
and.... I found the ORIGNAL PROBLEM!! YAY!!!
I started checking what my computer was running all the time and noticed something new would pop up when the websites would pop up. It was called "iexplorer"!! So I did some research on the internet and it tells me that some bad programs disguise themeselves as iexplorer!!
But, thank you all and I'm happy..."for"... now
-
If you've found 7 viruses on your system, I still recommend a re-setup. That a lot of viruses, unless you meant Adware, which is something different.
-
Those Virusus where were a misuderstanding on my case.:sigh:
It was actually "one" but It kept on and kept on telling me the same thing over and over.
But, the good news is I fixed it.:)
-
ya...I was in the same situtation last time my comp went on the fritz...had about...70 some odd viriuses of the same name (I kid you not!)...question do you have Kazaa or any file sharing programs?
(Kazaa ****ed up my computer big time...even with the P2P file sharing disabled, I still got viruses...No more Kazaa for me...)
-
nope, no Kazaa...
use to but, never use it once.
-
kazaa is a virus
