Title: Force Lightning, Anyone?
Post by: Grey Wolf on March 30, 2004, 03:26:23 pm
To get everyone out of their politics/religion fixation, I have good news.
KotOR 2 has been announced.
http://pc.ign.com/articles/454/454330p1.html?fromint=1
No real specifics yet, other than that it'll be released on Xbox and probably PC, and that it's going to feature a new cast of characters.

[color=66ff00]I dunno, KotOR was a bit of a disapointment for me, it had no staying power and I wasn't that inclined to replay it. It just didn't give enough variation despite playing both sides IMHO.

I got a chance to play a bit of Deus Ex 2 and although it does improve upon it's predecessor it doesn't do it enough to make it compelling to me.

Maeg, man, you scare me. :) KotOR was the best Star Wars game ever made--and the best new Star Wars movie to boot. :D

I agree.
KoTOR is by far the best Star Wars game made to date IMO.
D&D combined with Star Wars = KoTOR = gaming goodness :D

KotOR+Planescape:Torment=Best. Game. Ever.

Seriously, if they take the sequel and move it in a Torment-like game it'll be awesome.

Although I'm a bit shocked and sadden by that article stating Obesdian would be developing the game and not Bioware :(

Well, I would say that the game is in good hands :)
But ofcourse, we can't say anything about that until we have the finished product, which will probably be about...2 years probably?

****ing w00t! Although I know whatever timeline they choose will be good, wouldn't it be cool if they did something more recent? (In terms of Star Wars)

[color=66ff00]No terror intended guys. ;) As for the best SW game I'd have to say Xwing vs. Tie, I played that game as if my life depended on it.

Don't get me wrong KotOR had a good story it's just that I enjoy such games more for taking part in the story than for the actual gameplay itself. Good call on it being the best SW movie released recently mik, good way of thinking about it.
I prefer I Jedi as the best 'starwars movie' though. It was fantastic in my head. ;)

KOTOR is I think the only RPG I ever finished. Normally I get bored after 10 or so hours, and give up. KOTOR kept me interested all the way through, despite the fact that I have no interest in Star Wars. So, obviously, I am looking forward to this one.

Eh, with my luck it'll be the five guys that designed the box logos or something ;)

Sorry just after my Pool of Radiance incident, I'm pretty worried about anyone other than Bioware handling D&D or Bioware Sequels.

On the up side,...I'd love to see the game use more common options as in the BG, IWD, PS:T, and NWN series'. Having complete control over character design and all classes available would rock :D (Although I doubt they're able to do that on a console yet)

It seems that Bioware is doing with this the same thing that they did with Shadows of Undrentide. They handle all the coding and the like, and they outsource the story development.  I hope this company does as well as the SoU company.

hehe, as far as I know, Pool of Radiance sucked arse compared to the other Forgotten Realms games.

And if you compare KoTOR to the other games, the system and the rules is mostly similar to NWN
atleast...more so than BG1-2 and Torment.

ofcourse, there wasn't that many classes though, thats something I would like to see more of, possibly 4-5 Jedi classes and several others that you can combine with the Jedi class and make various interesting combos :D

The rules were partially derived from Star Wars d20, as far as I can tell, which explains the similarity to NWN, which is based on D&D 3E. They seem to have made some simplifications to the system. I hope they have full multi-classing in the sequel, though :)

this made my day, hopefully there shouldn't be level capping in this one (IMO)

'cause it would be more fun to have him still level up and everything ;)
