I recently was hit was an idea that I'm sure a good few Homeworld fans have had before now. What would a sequel to Homeworld: Cataclysm really be like?
After bouncing the idea back and forth and running a possible concept for a fiction or mod I decided to indulge my curiosity and run an audio sketch that might appear in a stylised game trailer.
The voice and it's effect need work, though for the most part it gets the impression across.

Yay for Hans Zimmer ;)
I'd personally shoot myself if there was another sequel. I did not like Catacylsm in the least.

His music in the background of that clip. From The Last Samurai soundtrack IIRC.

Somehow I highly doubt that of this particular piece of music ;)

Yeah it is, just verified it. Exact same as #9 on the track; Red Warrior by Hans Zimmer. Pwnt :p Check it yourself if you want.
Since you obviously didn't know that, where'd you get it from?
-
Just satisfy my curiousity and convert the part of the track that is apparently from this 'red warrior' (track 9) and fling it my way if you don't mind.

Very interesting indeed...
This does pose a few questions. I'll elaborate more once I've looked into something.

If it helps, I couldn't stand HW1, myself, let alone Cataclysm. Or the demo to HW2. Good code in those games though. Very good code. :)

Well, I thought HW1 and HW2 were great actually... I really sucked at them but that didn't take the enjoyment out. Cataclysm just seemed like a rushed game that had way too many problems with it. Not to mention the story was kind of lame.
btw, I'm still curious about the music thing...

At least the voice actors in Cataclysm put a bit of emotion into their acting. Fleet Command seemed to be in a constand bad mood....
-
That's true, but the ships were completely unoriginal :p

Cataclysm had the right idea in a way, but went about it wrong. I quite liked the idea of the Kiths still struggling for power, and different ship-types emerging for different Kith, that could have put a whole new edge on Multiplayer and you played, for example, Kith S'Jet vs Kith Manaan or the like. S'jet would be high Tech, Manaan would be warriors.
However, the game didn't quite pull it off right. Homeworld 2 and the kind of Mega-Zen storyline looked great but was a wee bit esoterical :(
But then, I seem to recall the original promise of homeworld 2 was 8 different multiplayer races :/

I liked Cataclysm. Especially because the Command Ship was actually useful, unlike the Mother Ship. And you got to fight the Bentusi :drevil:
