I especially like the P90 and the latest M60 (last video). Wow.
-
This machine generally doesn't like streams, so i'll pass this one up.
If games like AA and CS are any bearing though, most assault weapons only work when they are scoped or when you have enough ammo to spray&pray and use a clip per kill. That, and playing AA for a month makes me very sure about what to choose when having an AK and an M-16, M-4, or M4A1 Auto.

dude, that is awesome.. now i see why they picked such a weapon for stargate over the navy MP5's .. i mean.. 50 rounds..:eek2:
love the M60's
-
the P90 is that French SMG, right?
-
from Belgium, actually.. you're prolly thinking of the FAMAS

oh my, high impulse weapon system ;7
-
"But one failed to heed the salesman's twice-proffered advice to keep 80 percent of his body weight on his forward foot: A trigger pull later, he did a 180-degree spin to his right, stumbled three steps sideways, and ended up on his butt. And he isn't a little guy. Subsequent shooters didn't have to be reminded."
some recoil then...

100 rounds magazine's

P90 is the best assult weapon ever created with its laser/optical sight you can take anything down in singleshot or full automatic
its a sniper/assult weapon in one
-
That's a bit ironic since it was designed to be a defensive weapon! :D

i had lots of fun with one of these during delta force 2 team deatmatches afew years back. One particular incident had me taking down around 30 peeps before even being spotted. Ah, the memories....

Bwha, the FAMAS + FELIN system, thanks to the ballistic computer and the explosive scatter bullets, you can shoot someone hidden behind an obstacle. Beat THAT :p

Its actually generally regarded as a sub-machine gun in class and it was designed as a personal defense weapon meant for troops that needed a small and lightweight weapon that was capable of piecing body armor (a problem with standard 9mm handguns).
But you are right...its a sniper and assault weapon in one. Not sure what the disadvantages of the design are but it seems like the P90 ended up being alot more useful than originally intended.
-
Neutron bomb... doesn't matter where your opponent is hidden... you WILL get him!!! :p :D
Or... a M1 tank :p
-
well, one of these (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steyr_Aug) seems to be more of an assault/sniper combo.
-
bah, the barot sniper rifle can penetrate apc armor with 9cm long armor piercing bullets. Dont bother going round the obstacle, go through it :p
-
oh, and the P90 was intended for use as a cross between the pistol and rifle, not rifle and sniper combo

now this I like big mean machine gun(S]
;)
-
Wow, the P90 is really, really small. I don't know if it would be more comfortable to use a bigger gun, cause this is just so tiny. The FN2000 also rocks.
And what the hell is that High Impluse Weapons System? I'e never heard of it before. I'm assuming its some kind of rocket launcher, eh? Looks cool whatever it is.
-
That Aussie making the Metal Storm thingy, those one-time-use barrels with electral all-at-once detonation. Now that is slaughter. Better then any machine gun if you quickly need a lot of lead.
-
im not sure, maybe some sort of long range shoulder mounted mortar, grenade launcher/ rocket launcher whatnot.

That's cool for movies, not for a war that lasts more than a 1 minute gunfight :p
-
no, but if you need to kill a lot of people quick, the stuff is a lot more usefull the the triple gatling thingy. A lot less prone to malfuction for one. OTH, machine guns are generally used to give of suppressive fire, and then you just need a ****load of ammo, so your average RPK or M249 with a long chain ought to do.
-
I'm gonna make you peeps jealous:
I have been doing some shooting with a P90 myself :)
-
meh. why not just lay cluster bombs down from a low altitude. Save yur ammo.
-
The P90 is a fun thing indeed... proprietary 5.7mm caliber (shared with the FN Five-seveN pistol - 20 rounda per clip) and supposedly one of the rare weapons that was designed with THV (tres haute vitesse - very high speed) ammo in mind. It might actually outclass even the H&K MP-7 as a PDWeapon.
BUT, if you need a chaingun, there's only one: GAU-8 Avenger :D
-
That F2000 is kickass.

In my humble opinion, and it is humble - due to the fact that all my info comes from games and/or gun websites, an HKG36 or FN2000 seems the way to go. Course, the Americans have the MX8 or whatever, which is basically a G36, and the OICW which is again the G36 with some add-ons.
-
True enough... Still, the XM8 is supposed to come with the built-in 40mm grenade launcher. I think a G36 needs an additional M203 module for those.
Anyone have an actual image of an XM8? All I have is some concept art from http://world.guns.ru
-
Google is your friend.
http://www.hk-usa.com/pages/military-le/rifles-carbines/xm8.html
And BTW, if some of you don't know, they have now scrapped and rejected both the OICW and the Comanche projects. :(
-
I knew about the Comanche, but not the OICW. Yeah, I guess it was a bit silly. I mean, you can get all that funcinality out of a G36 or FN2000, no use building it again, especially when its so HUGE.
As for the Comanche, 8 billion dollars later, I guess they figured out helicopters are useless. They get shot down too easily and frequently. Too bad though, now the Russians have no reason to build to Black Ghost, which was supposed to be their equivalent of the Comanche.
-
Well, they replaced the OICW with XM8, because it's the same thing with lower price and is easier to handle. If you look at XM8, you'll notice that it IS G36, just repainted and sexified. :)
I actually believe the attack helos have a little place, but UAV/UCAV axis will propably replace them in most aspects. For example 175th SOAR will propably always operate with manned techs, but some standard "bomb the ****znaz out of them" gunship group propably will move to smaller, cheaper and "humane" [lol] weapons of carnage.

A US GI and an M-16 is my combo :D

just wait until they invent energy powerful enough for use as weapons. We'll be burning holes through stuff while most of the world is stuck with ballistics, and probably still using AK47's. Mwahahahaha :D

They should focus on jets, anyway... they have prototypes of at least five good planes (of which two have stealth capability, one is a revamp of a 1980 bomber, one can fly circles around anything US made and still crash it with a missile and one beats even the Harrier as a VTOL), none of which are being produced because neither Russia or Ukraine have enough funds.
The Comanche was a nice try, really, it's not every day someone thinks up a stealth chopper with enough rockets to wipe a small airbase. ;7

Not to burst your bubble, but that same AK47 will leave an impact hole of 7.62mm and then proceed to shatter your insides, all the while being light enough to carry around with at least 5 extra clips. Any energy weapon that comes out will be 10 kg in weight (+ backpack as a power supply), and if someone steps far away the beam won't do jack (at best, it'll burn a hair off your eyebrow  ).
Particle weapons? Yeah, sure. It'll probably hit a nitrogen molecule as soon as it exists the barrel. POOF.
edited for spelling and clarification
By the by, between the two best PDWs so far, do you think the MP-7 is better than the P90 or vice-versa?

OVERKILL!!!!!!
Are you looking for a gun, or are you looking to start WW3?
Oh..and about the Metal Storm...no reload..One-use weapon...
Besides...Gatling Guns are cooler...
And there is a Russian Gatling that beats the Avanger...The GŠK-23 i belive it's called...24000 30mm shots per minute....
-
Learned about the XM8 while browsing the R6: Raven Shield forums a few months back. Very nifty looking weapon...but I was under the impression it was going to be a complementary weapon to the OICW. I had no idea it had been cancelled...although the bloody thing looked like a bazooka rather than an assault weapon.
HK is also making the HK M4 which is an interm design to replace the current M4 which is not living upto expectations of barrel life or anything. Once again its essentially a G36 in a M4 getup (both which look cool although I think the M4 is much smaller).
-
I thought the XM8 was supposed to be the interim weapon to serve while they got the OICW fully cunctional, but I guess I was wrong. So, they're making a *third* weapon to serve from now unwil the XM8 is issued? Thats just wasteful.
And I'de bet on Russian weapon technology any day of the week. Jets, choppers, tanks etc; they're all superior to most US counterparts. Especially since there is talk of scrapping the F22 project in the States in favour of the JSF. Russia already rules the skies with the Mig-29, though they lack as wide a variety of bombers as the US has.
-
Even though Russian equip, like Su-37 and that latest MiG-1.42 are indeed manouverable and give a raging hard-on for everyone who sees them in air shows, they lack some other things needed for successful air combat: pilot training (ie. money) and radar techs.
Since most of the air battles are done with radar in mind and as countermeasures become more advanced, the importance of manouverability is quickly becoming a minor factor.
And as long as they lack sufficient funds to develop the techs, train the pilots and keep the planes up and running, the Russian tech is more important as import stuff (India) than as a valuable asset of their own defence forces.
Russian planes are tough, granted. They're manouverable, granted. They also have things like thrust vectoring implented on most of their new (though often existing only on the papers) planes. They form a formidable template for updating, like installing better radars, fly-by-wire systems and so on, and are a good match for F-15/F-16. But they still drag miles behind USAF, RAF etc., partially because all practical work with the projects ceased at early 1990s, and lately it's been just a shadow of it's former self.
