Hello,
is there a known problem, that FRED refuses to work when using an
high-poly-model ?
I am using one of the newer version (3.5.5) says the program
sign, but the date of the file is already oktober 2003.
Maybe there is already a better working version out ?
I am using a model with 6000 vertices, and about 11000 faces
(including one LOD, a few small subobjects and 3 debrisparts.
LOD0 alone with subobjects and debris has 3500 vertices, and 6500 faces).
The model is working excellent ingame, and I can even insert it
in FRED. But as soon as I zoom in on the model (I must not even zoom
direct on him, happens also when I zoom on another the ship and
you get automatically nearer to the model), Fred crashes using this
windows-error (sorry, it's german, hope it helps anyway. I'm not
sure, if FRED generates an error-log)

I don't think the current FREd supports HTL (hi poly) models. although I'm not sure about the openGL version. If all else fails, use a low-poly 'dummy' model, i guess.

...that would explain my crashes with Karma's and VA's HP Fenris...ugh...

you can turn off models for the time being, untill we get fred working properly.
that error mesage scared the crap out of me, I thought it was real

Good Idea (Why didn't I get the Idea in the first end ? :nervous: ).
Now it works at least, even when it is now a little more difficult to
build the mission, but for the time being..... Thanks for the insight.

Yeah, however this is only the usual windows-crap (as if there
would someone outthere, who knows what to do with these memory-
adresses).
My computer communicate very much in that way with me, I will even
have to renew my reset-button, cause it is really upused now. :D

 Indeed, Windows does have a way of communicating with Access Violation errors.
Windows-crap...upused...I think I'm gonna regret your english improving. ;)
New build of FRED with HT&L (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,22614.0.html) - it's buggy so keep your old version handy.
The command line option -fredhtl will turn HT&L OFF, not on, for the above version. :)
