I'm not sure if this is an ingame screenshot or not - but if it is, i'm impressed.

Then again, I'm very easily impressed..........

What?  They could be tracer rounds, no?

That looks pretty nice, graphic wise.

It's from GEARBOX...they guys who ported Halo over from the XBox!

Sooo...it's gonna suck?

Seriously, Gearbox did a pretty lousy job, all things considered.

Anyway, that looks like an edited screenshot, you know, with some blur and color adjustments applied. I've seen the same thing done with IL-2 screenies. (You should check them out, they look EXACTLY like the real thing).

And I'll never be able to play it unless I spend another 400 beans on my computer :(

oh yay! another WW2 game!

Seriously, lthe graphics rock, but the "borthers in arms" angle has been played since MOHAA. I don't see any revolutionary gameplay comming from this game. Home come there are no gmes where you play as the Russians?

Band of Brothers the game.

edit: I am a very, very bad speller. Just thought it'de be easier to inform than to correct the mistakes.

The scenery etc is based on photographs etc taken by soldiers during a real WW2 mission, so it at least contains some accuracy. Interesting looking, but I think I'll wait and see how things come along before making a decision.

Play as the Russians? You'd be playing only to freeze your ass of in Siberia.

"WHOA! A polar bear!"

*Aims AK-47*

*AK-47 barrel breaks due to extreme cold*

"Aw crap..."

:p

BF1942 allows you to play as Russians as well... though it's not exactly exclusive to Russians.

*smacks head*

Thats right, it did have a Russian campaign. I never played it, but I know it had a Russian SP element, which was the last and hardest of the three, correct?

In a way... the state owns the children untill they are 18. So they think for them and thus think of you... and how to own you as well :p

In WWII Russian infantry didn't use the AK-47.  I forget the name of the weapon but it was pre-WWI in origin.  Although many weapons used by infantry were pre-WWI origin anyways.  General Russian infantry at the beginning were underequipped.  By the end they were much better armed.

Retouched IL2 screenshots look good...but not THAT good.  Certainly what I've seen from UT2004, Far Cry, and a couple of others suggests this is well within the realm of possible.

Yup, this is definitely a screenshot. What it looks like to me is a combination of whatever "soft light" (ba dum pssssh) techniques are used in Novalogic's Joint Operations and good 'ol bloom effect ala Prince of Persia.

Impressive, I must say, especially considering Gearbox has a long history of putting out titles with mediocre graphics to servicable graphics.

No and yes... It can be used as a normal rifle but a sniper scope can be attached to it. :)

Graphics look awesome, but...it's ANOTHER FREAKING WWII GAME!!! God! I have gotten SO TIRED of re-hash after re-hash.
First we had MOHAA, then we had a bunch of clones of MOHAA, then we had Call of Duty, now we're getting the clones :doubt:

How many 'clones' of MOHAA can you actually name, though?

I can't think of any offhand (and games simply also set in WW2 do not count as clones - i.e BF:1942 & Hidden & Dangerous are totally different types of game)

Well, the CoD team is to a large degree the same team that made MOHAA, they just left and formed their own company.

I'de like to see a game where the morality of it is a bit better devloped. In most WW2 games, its Allies=angels, Axis=devils. Not saying that the Axis were nice chaps, not even close, but it would be interesting to at least hear a few words from their side of the fence. Mostly, I would say  that it adults who play these games, so I'de like to see a bit more depth than that. Show the rape of Nanking, the A-bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, show the concentration camps. Show everything that happened.

Dunno about other games, but CoD never shown the axis as 'devils'.  They were just the other side - you shoot them, they shoot you.  I wouldn;t exactly call it villification.

And how many gamers wouldn't enjoy wandering through a town spraying bullets randomly and killing everyone? Hell, most of us do that whether we are supposed to or not, at one point or another, and we're supposed to be the good guys ;)

well, i saw most of the imagery in History class, all uncensored and let's just say that WWII really, really dampened my apetite.
