sheild impacts are now made better, they are relitive to the size of the weapon hitting the sheilds, not the ship being hit, big improvement with this will be sheilded capships will no longer look supper dupper ugly. I think the fighters look better now to, I'm going to add a table definable sheild impact size, wich defalts to 4xhead radius (what it's currently useing).

hey while we are on shields, whats going on with the shield bug(not showing up when there is a hit), was that ever fixed?

Downloading now.

Should be a big improvment.
But that IS a feature ...  Or not ?

I think 4xradius is too small.
Personaly I would like to see almost the whole shield to be animated if hit...

Custom ani“s seem to cause problems with it.

4x radius works best becase of the huge turret weapons, they do light up the whole mesh.
now, what's the problem, from the screen it looks like it's working perfictly, and thhat second one is just a still from the animaion with one of the rays circled :wtf:

[edit]oh, wait I see it, yeah you'r gona want to make sure the outer most pixels on your animation are all totaly black.

it fixes the problems many people trying to put shields on capships are faceing, I thought I had authoriseation to do this

Hm.  It isn't terribly clear, but I guess that's okay.  Just look it over carefully and make sure it doesn't have any bugs.

well it doesn't seem to have any bugs, the thing I'm more worried about is that it changes the way things look, most fighter weapons leave a rather small sheild impact effect capship turret weapons on the other hand make relitively huge effects (and this does cause something of a problem were you can see the edges of triangles sometimes, trying to think of a way to get around that currently)

Bob, would an inverse exponential increase in shield impact radius size relative to the weapon radius (instead of a geometric increase) help in keeping the shield impacts looking close to correct?

i can hardly say it is my lifes work, but it is a rather large amount of info, and it is a pity to see it go to waste because you were bored,

Yes, but you're a special case.

I've actually got a reason for banning you.

Not only did you ***** and whine and get banned, you kept *****ing and whining and got uber-banned, then you KEPT *****ing and whining till I banned you through every method I could think of, then you used a proxy to try and keep reading the forums and got IP banned through that as well.

So this isn't one of those bans where I revoke it after 20 minutes. It's one of those where I send you 3Gb files in your e-mail if you keep trying to find a way around it.


And I've already given Singh access because he asked nicely.

as for *****ing, i hardly said anything, only a few remarks in the forums, but it is all water under the bridge now.
