They've officially messed up my Saturday night viewing schedule. Both Samurai Jack and Rurounin Kenshin aren't on. And for what? Some stupid Bionicle movie....
-
well, since all three of those are gay, it doesn't matter.
-
CN is only good for Family Guy/Futurama/Sealab/ATHF

yeah...I can't believe that **** either...now i'm going to have to leech all the kenshin episodes off of phobos :sigh:
-
Adult Swim is the one most important thing on that network...
-
Apparently theyre playing the Animatrix right now...
-
Yeah. At least I managed to get in some time watching someone fight with a katana (the beginning of "Final Flight of the Osiris"). And Gundam Seed, while not up to the level of Gundam Wing, isn't half bad.
-
Animatrix is cool.

The Lineup includes:
at 6:00(ct).
An animated movie of some kind or another, tonight's was Bionicle: Mask of Light(which wasn't half-bad IMO, better than some supposedly good more "adult" stuff I've seen.)
at 8:00(ct)
Jackie Chan Adventures??!??!?????:blah:
8:30 brings
new Yu Yu Hakusho, been waiting for these for nearly 2 years
9:00 Gets us
new DB GT, it's starting to get old, but I watch cause Goku's the Man.
9:30, the anchor position
Gundam SEED
I want to know why everybody compares any new Gundam to GWing? GWing is one of the crappier Gundams, far below the Perfection that is 0083: Stardust Memory or The 08th MS Team.
-
Because we like Gundam Wing. In the eyes of many, Gundam Wing was the best out of all the Gundams to date.
-
It's dull, except for some bits in the middle and at the end. It never had the frenetic feeling that the entire Earth Sphere may be destroyed at any moment.
I like Wing, it's the first Gundam show I ever saw and for that reason it will always have a special place in my heart. It had some good mecha designs and was decent enough to watch, but it's too preachy on the pacifist stuff, which really kills the mood of a show about Giant White Death Dealing Robots at War.
-
And no-one seems to have commented on the fact that GW's Saturday night consists of watching cartoons.

How many gundam series have you seen, actually? W was one of the least inspired :p
-
0083 was the one and only true Gundam for me. Everything else was like kids shows to me...
-
Hear hear! 0083 is possibly my favorite Gundam saga, right up there with 08th MS Team and Char's Counter-Attack! Gundam Wing...it will always have a fond place in my heart, as it was my first Gundam, and really, Anime series I loved and watched. SEED is far superior, at least the first half/three-quarters, but really, the fansubs are better than the butchered garbage on CN.
EDIT: Post was slightly rushed. I'm a huge, huge fan of Gundam. It's my favorite anime and mecha universe, ever. I much prefer the Universal Century to the Alternate Universes, in most cases. 0083 is my favorite series. Not only for the incredible designs (The GP series, especially GP01 and GP02A are my favorite Gundams. Physalis was completed on my birthday. ^^; September 18th, 0083. Dom Tropen, Xamel, Gerbera Tetra.) but the story is really something else. It does an incredible job of connecting 0079 with Zeta. The characters are very believable. Kou Uraki, the naive rookie Federation pilot, and Anavel Gato, the Zeon ace, whose morals are blinded by his ideals and followship of Delaz. Love, corruption, betrayal, it's all there. 08th MS Team is also among my favorites, for those same reasons.
As far as Wing and SEED are concerned... Wing isn't horrible, but it's far from good. It seemed a lot more like a fan-girl pleaser than anything else. However, it was my first Gundam series, and before seeing anything of the UC timeline, I thought it was incredible. SEED is great as well, especially the first half. Some people consider it to be too slowed in its pace, but I thought it was excellently done. Towards the end however, it becomes so frantic and so confusing. There are far too many "major" characters, and as a result, some seem to just kind of fade out of the spotlight. I could go on for quite a while about this. You'll just have to see it for yourself. I did watch the first episode last night. The dubbing is surprisingly decent, but I'll always like the Japanese VAs more, just because I'm so used to them. I was also appaled that they butchered the ending theme and credits. That theme is among the best I've ever heard, and I was saddened to see it cut so short. Ah well... Hopefully the DVDs will make up for it.
-
You're sad they butched the ending? They left the beginning completely out and it's better.
-
Jackie Chan/Futurama/Family Guy
And shut the **** up liberator, Jackie Chan Adventures rocks your world.
-
Speaking of Adult Swim - which can't be watched here, they had Blue Gender on - which is an absolute blow IMHO - though I only saw a fansubbed version, so I have no idea what the dub was like.
Did any of you saw that?
-
Blue Gender? Hell yeah :)
One of my favourite scifi anime, with mecha design the way I like them, and muchos, muchos gore :D
That's how starship troopers should have been. The second half isn't as great, tho. It's very good, but the first half was really something, so it suffers from the comparison imho.
I doubt this series has any chance of being aired on french TV, but since we have the DVDs already, who cares :p

I'm not a big fan of Invoke. I prefer Moment and Believe myself. Also note, I didn't catch the very beginning. I missed the first ten minutes or so. <<; I also noticed that they cut out a lot of the explosion scene, like when Nataru found surviving members of the ArcAngel. <<; Then again, that could have been from Phase 2. My memory is slightly fuzzy on the first episodes, as I haven't watched SEED for a while.
-
That's in Phase 3 or 4, I've only seen 1,2 and part of 3 that I "obtained".
The next ep is where Kira reprograms several of the Strike's mobility systems on the fly while battling a couple of Zaft suits.
Speaking of ZAFT, that just doesn't roll of the tongue like "Zeke Zeon!" does it?
-
Bah...we need a decoder since about a year or two to see Cartoon Network.
-
Wing was easily the worst of all the Gundam series, although SEED's ending was so rushed it cheapened what did, until the writers got bored, have quite a lot of promise. As for dubs the only one I've ever been convinced by was Ghost in the Shell.
-
well, changing the subject a little here, but I just found something disturbing: Samurai Jack isn't on the air. I just checked CN's site. Bummer.

-
They're probably saving up eps for the new season.
-
No, they're not. There's only 4 episodes left, total, and one of the 4 already has shown in the UK.
To get back to Gundam, though, I'll admit that I've only actually seen 4 Gundam series myself (6 if you count the one episode each of Gundam SEED and Mobile Suit Gundam). Out of those 4, I rate Gundam Wing the highest, with 08th MS Team shortly behind. The other two, G Gundam and SD Gundam, seem rather stupid compared to the rest.
-
G Gundam was a joke, if not annoyingly repetitive
-
It wasn't even a war. It was a competition, and a lurking evil mecha. What fun is that? And how can you have the classic massed combat with that scenario?
-
The purpose of G Gundam was, IMO, to combine the rabid popularity of shows like DBZ and put into a Gundam format, which it did wonderfully. I like G Gundam, it was a little longer than it should have been but it's still fairly entertaining.
And as far as massed combat, didn't you see the Interlude in Tokyo where they introduced a lot of the main story elements, such as Master, the Shuffle Alliance and finally explained the Dark Gundam(Devil Gundam for you sub-t fans) or the final 8 episodes or so?
SD Gundam, was targeted at a much younger audience(6-9) than the usual 10-16 year olds that the other shows target as well as providing a bit of comedy for the Old Time Fans of the series. I liked it, and the music was very cool. I wish I could find the soundtrack.
-
I wish I could get the original MSG, though I have some Z episodes too - very dark and to my liking, though I don't really like the transforming mecha. They look sily compared to Macross where they used the feature sensibly at to its full extent.

Make no mistake. Zeta and Methuss and the like were just gimmicks to sell some really cool model kits/MSiAs. ^^; I haven't sen any of Zeta personally, but I've heard it's really good. As far as G Gundam and SD Gundam...they're jokes, and not really meant to be taken seriously.
Back to SEED, yes, ZAFT has many similiarities to the Prinicipality of Zeon.
WARNING: SOME SPOILERS AHEAD!!!
Both are based in space, and both are militiaries of the colonies (or PLANT in SEED's case).
Both developed MS before their Earth-based counterparts.
Both did some pretty nasty things to Earth. (Zeon = colony drops/NBC warfare. ZAFT = Nuclear Jammers)
Both have an antagonist who wears a silver mask.
Both have similar looking and performing MS. (Zaku = GINN. Gelgoog = GuAIZ)
Both create superweapons as a last resort. (Zeon = Solar Ray Cannon. ZAFT = Genesis)
Both have genocidal viewpoints. I.E, both want to kill off Earthnoids/Naturals.
The similarities go on. ^^; I really wish SEED's ending wasn't so rushed. It was on its way to becoming one of the best G series ever. *sigh*
-
Do you guys get Gerard Reinke? His shows are screening here in Australia, I think it's produced by Comedy Central or something... it's ridiculous... :p
-
redsniper,
well, changing the subject a little here, but I just found something disturbing: Samurai Jack isn't on the air. I just checked CN's site. Bummer.
samurai jack is on toonanima at about 7 or 7.30 pm, well it is on in the uk,
SadisticSid,

i have to say i liked Gundam wing avent seen any of the others cos toonanima only showed wing, but i really liked it.
-
well it's not on the air here...
-
They just ripped the heart out of their afternoon lineup.
They've move Toonami to Saturday nights only, and have come up with something called Miguzi.(Can we get a translation, or at least find out if it's a real Japanese word? HIG?)
4:00 = Spy Girls :blah:
4:30 = Code Lyoko (we'll see, look kinda cool)
5:00 = Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (die already(http://mysmilies.ipbfree.com/s/contrib/sarge/BoomSmilie_anim.gif))
5:30 = Teen Titans(I like it, but I liked it better on Saturday nights.)
-
Doubt that it's real. A fake Japanese word for fake Japanese shows.
-
I'm just pissed off that they took Transformers out of the 6:30 AM slot and put Courage the Cowardly Dog there instead. I want to watch Samaurai Jack when I'm eating Breakfast!! And I'm a Gundam wing fan too, but I think that 8th MS Team had better animation quality and a cooler final battle (none of that Zero-System freak-out stuff).
-
i have to say i liked Gundam wing avent seen any of the others cos toonanima only showed wing, but i really liked it.
toonami showed this other Gundam too, one of the early ones by the looks of it.
I taped Endless Waltz too, because of the kickass Wing-Zero Custom (a real piece of art, I even got a cheap model kit)
-
Note to self: Must buy Gundam Wing and Endless Waltz on DVD.
-
G Gundam was a joke, if not annoyingly repetitive
Hey! I liked G-Gundam!
-you didn't know who was on which side
-it never ended
-the good guy just kept getting stronger and stronger

As I said, Gundam as DBZ.
-
Turning gold? That's Saint Seiya, not DBZ :p

Ok, he's a Japanese with a Finnish IP or something like that.
I'll leave you to figure it out.
-
Well, I just assumed since he works/ed for Square Enix the last I heard.
-
Ok, you missed the whole part about him being 99% fake? :p
-
And I thought I was clueless....
Anyways, saw an episode of "Code Lyoko" today...not as bad as I thought it'd be...has some potential despite hugely scary foreheads...
