Stretch the fireball.  A lot.

Ever seen a meteor shooting across the sky?  That's the look you'd be going for...though at that speed the Herc would've torn itself apart already.

So, if you're going with the atmospheric breakup look, kill a lot of the fireball.  Flares coming off the leading edges of the ship, maybe some smoldering debris trailing behind it, but nothing quite as  bright as that.

err, more of the kind of fireball a spaceshuttle makes, cept with parts flying off.

Those fireballs are pretty bright. And from the movies ive seen, i dont think theyre as long as a meteors.

Oooooooohhhhh...pretty fire. ;)

I agree with JC though...if you're going for a realistic look, you need to stretch the fireball and make it a little less...imposing. The Herc should more be glowing and trailing fire, I think.

Cool nonetheless.
