Something happened last night that made IE6 look like this (http://nodewar.penguinbomb.com/saab/images/Fuct.jpg). Normally the toolbars would be stacked with buttons on top, then address, then DAP and finally Google. They're currently locked where they are and clicking View --> Toolbars just gives me a load of greyed-out rubbish. Also, I'd banished most of those buttons, like Mail and Print and so forth yet they've mysteriously come back.
Ideas?
If you'd like to hold a discussion/argument about minority alternative browers, the new topic button is in the top-right BTW :)

the only thing i can think of is...
save your bookmarks, and reinstall IE6. or find some way to restore IE to it's clean install status.

aside from the usual "Mozilla is good" and "why do you even use a DAP bar, Mozilla as it's own download manager" i can't give you much advice but just re-install the bugger.

I suspect it's just some sort of default layout setting that's kicked in thanks to you ****ing with the registry or something. What have you been up to with it lately?
Btw - Firebird would solve all this :p

God alone knows what I did. Last night Media Player installed a licence of somesort and a porn dialler downloaded itslef (AVG caught it), but that's all I can think of. I've tried reinstalling but nothing happened. I can't actually delete the thing, mind, as it wants a Messenger fiel which doesn't exist for some reason.

You've got me.

It's probably not IE but rather your XP user settings that are FUBAR'd. Try deleting the Internet Explorer directory from C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft and the same from C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Microsoft and see if that fixes it. You'll lose all the rest of your preferences too, but you're looking at that anyway.

Have you tried unlocking them? Right mouse on an empty section of the toolbar and chose the unlock option. Move the toolbars around and then lock it again.
Assuming you're running windows XP. Not certain if that works for other OS's
