Title: Just a note for those wanting to give FS2 to friends
Post by: kasperl on April 24, 2004, 08:13:42 am
when using winrar, i got a full copy of FS), with full media vp except for loplanets, into a 593 meg rar file. it took my computer half an hour to compress, but it is tiny enough for a CD. i removed the MVE movies, and i don't have all of em as AVI, but the core game, plus DEM and Homesick thrown in all fit into those 600 megs.  Also, the tech room ani's are gone, because i don't have them myself, and some command briefing voices are gone, once again, because i don't have those myself (or because i missed them deleting the 1kb files in their place from the HOTU rip).

just a friendly note. if anyone wants the file, just gimme a place to upload it. NOTE: i am not sure how legal this is, i take no responsebility for anyone distributing it.

It's not legal, now that Interplay has the 20th anniversary edition.

The EULA statement quite specifically refers to you giving it to your own friends for non-profit purposes, though - which, in other words, makes you responsible for the distribution. I'm afraid this kind of release is not legal.
