A short while ago, I was reading through the "Intelligence" tab of the Tech Room when I came upon something interesting. Apparently, the Colosus is destroyed and the Capella star supernovas and blows up everything in the Capella system destroying a good part of the GTVA. I would really like to see this happen and play it out (if thats possible) but my CD 3 seems to be scratched. So after completing the first part of the main campaign part involving Bosch and the NTA it asks me if I want to continue on. I click yes, it loads and freezes at the end of loading.
This leads me to believe that I got a fatal scratch on my CD 3. I tried to burn all three disks. It worked fine until it got to CD 3. Apparently the files named tangob_fs2.vp, tango2_f2.vp, and tango3_fs2.vp are corrupt, because it gave me error messages on these files when trying to copy them. I would really appreciate if someone could send me these files. I would rather not have to shell out $50 to Interplay to buy the game again because, after all, its just 3 files. But, just my luck, all of the 3 corrupt files are over 40 mb apiece. If anyone would send me these files I would be grateful. :)

Have you tried cleaning the CD?
Also, if someone has the webspace, they should compress rather nicely - they're all command animations...
-
Are they still on Fractus' FTP space?

Yes, many times. Still, it freezes.

Well sort of. The colossus kinda goes boom, and capella does go to hell, but the fact that Dravis's journal never made it to the node during the exodus... now THATS a big loss..

Yeah the Colossus goes down in a big boom...the Capella star blows up and there is a rather spectacular ending...gosh I love FS2. :)

That all sounds damn exciting , I actually thought at first the GTVA where getting somewhere with the Colossus until it did go down :sigh:

yeah, well, you could try to simply make a hell of a lot 1 kb files with the correct filenames, and use that instead of the stuff that's in the VP, but you're going to miss a lot. try VPview (google or wikisearch) to extract any working files.

God bless the crew's zombie bones.:o

Dravis's journal? Are we talking about that bastard from Descent 3?
-
I would think so. But he died by the Guidebot SPIKES!
-
Poor Material Defender... *Gets impaled* WORST DEATH EVER!
-
plus he was in OUR solar system, not Capella...
-
I love to spam as much as anyone ( ) but could anyone possibly put up these said files for me? Please? *bambi eyes*
-
Oohh man, I still remember bits of dialogue from the D2 intro.
"...You are cleared for dockpoint 3"
"...Material Defender, I trust your journey was recuperative?"
"Your concern is as underwhelming as ever Dravis"
*important plot points*
"...we have fitted your ship with a warp drive prototype -"
"I've already done your dirty work, just gimme the money and let me go home."
"Ah yes, your primary obligation 17...and that's for...if you studied your standard MERCENARY contract you would find that PTMC reserves the right to keep you on retainer for up to 24 hours."
"Mr. Dravis, you son of a-!"
"If you choose to decline your contract, your fee will be spent pending litigation. Good luck material defender. Dravis out."
"I knew it! I knew PTMC would find some way to keep me!"
"Proceed to jump point"
"Ahh, couldn't care less. But they left me no choice if I want the money. And here I thought indentured service ended in the 21st century."
*Dramatic 1996ish special effects...omg! The ship is gone!*
*Zapzapzap* DESCENT II
*Fwoosh!*
Sorry, getting nostalgic there. :p

Hey, Colossus. I can't put up these files for you (insufficient bandwidth on my side), but I'll *bump* this thread for you. Hope you can find those files, the end of FS2 is really worth playing.
