Still in very early developement though, i just started at surfacing it.
I added a few displacement map's and a few reference objects so the suppatch is animated. it's using a low aa but it seems like if i use no aa at al it looks more realistic
I'm now surfacing it, wich is not my best skill as my teacher always says :p but hey practice makes miracles;)

Nice feel to the water, bit I'd suggest you turn up the specularity slightly on that material, it looks a little 'dry' for water i my opinion :)
-
Add things like an Galley being thrown around in it
I like tho :)
-
looks good, except something needs to be done to make it look less like rocky landscape and more like the high seas

yeb i alterd the displacement map, there where to much irregular shapes, although the high seas are not only waves, especialy not when a good wind is blowing, lot's of foam and irregular waves are created by the wind.

Throw in the Volition pirate ship. :D

Yes, i know, ive spent 1/4 of my life on an island. I know what the ocean looks like. It's just that it doesnt have the shimmering, liquid 'feel' of water. you have the look spot on, though.
And i second the notion for a pirate ship! :D

at the first glance, i thought it was icey terrain!
anyway, i think it looks pretty nice at this point(after looking a bit longer, it looks like the water in "Hostile Waters", and i would say it's a good thing, because in that game, water looked pretty realistic to me :)) you should make it more blue, and have the white foam around
-
I like it. :) Needs to have more reflection, though. ;)

Well as i said before, surfacing is not my best aspect.
Here's a update of the ocean.
I added more detail like foam enz.
i'm still tweaking the main surface to let it look more water like, and more spec is needed.
-
much better :D
-
OOOH, its so pretty now! I really like what youve done!
Hmm, one suggestion: if the weather is stormy, it might, keyword MIGHT, be cool to have little splashes of rain on the surface.
or not, s' up to you. Either way i think its very good.
-
Very nice :) Possibly rather than rain itself, add a little distance fog to blur the line between the water and the sky? Not too much, as you are pretty close to the water, but just a touch?
-
forget my idea, Flipsides sounds like it would work far better. :)
-
Well my idea is to put rain and hozes in the scene, after i'm done surfacing i'll add a enviroment with fog rain enz.
