Title: the gvcv nebtuu
Post by: nucas on April 29, 2004, 01:46:12 am
from the fs2 mission 'exodus'. i am curious, has anyone ever managed to save it?
the closest i ever came was when it was almost to the portal and that lone nahema spawned in, off in right field, and bombed it before i could reach it. ive never really tried again since then since that was kind of disheartening as it was already one of many attempts though i always make a token effort.

I think the general idea is that you can't save it - it's just to hard to do. However if memory serves you can prolong its "life" by taking out the main beam cannons on the SCv Moloch (I forget its name) and then taking out any bombers that attack the Nebtuu... it's hard - and I rarely get it to last more than a minute.

No, I'm pretty sure it's practically impossible to save it. The Nebtuu starts off falling to bits anyway, and it only takes a few volleys of Unknown Megabombs (:D) from a wing of Seraphim to take it down. I think V's intention with this mission was to show the desperation of the situation. :)

But thank God that they don't die for nothing. The opening salvo by that Moloch is so devastating that after that the Nebtuu is practically guarantiined to die. I never pay any attention to friendly ships in "Exodus" anyways. There are so many Shivans that I usually just rush around, Kaysers singing.

Apparently it has been done. I remember someone complaining about how it just sits at the Jump Node and doesn't leave because no one in  [V] thought it possible to save the ship so they never gave it a departure cue :D

well, that makes me feel better about it. i hate losing ships in escort missions and simply never allow it to happen.
my ultimate goal is to one day save every ship in 'apocalypse'. the closest ive come is losing 2 lambda transports, the gtm sydenham, and the gtfr sophron. i suspect it will take a better pilot than i to manage it but what the hell, i love torturing myself. though considering they all die in the capella supernova anyway i really don't know why i always bother trying.

Question is, is it even possible to save them all? I've waited untill the last second to jump and I can't save those last 4 ships.

I doubt it is - again I think :V: is trying to show how up-against-the-wall you are when you have to break off and abandon your own people just to make it out alive.

That's pretty selfish... :V: shouldn't have included the happy ending.

`+Shift+I scenario.... This is Admiral Petrach, all of our ships survived the supernova...
