Just got me one of those Chieftec Dragon cases, and after 3 and a half hours of transferring all the bits (including one hour of trying to get the HD out because some tit, probably me, had stripped the screw heads), I've affected a drop in system temps by some 40 degrees.
I'm pleased, to say the least.

thats very nice :)
I have the same type casing, so I can vouch for it too :D

The Chieftecs are good cases. You have the aluminum or steel variant?
This here is the best case I've seen though:

[color=66ff00]I've got a Dragon, a purple dragon to be specific.
It makes me happy.

I've got a whirring clunking unidentifiable plastic box buried under a 3ft high stack of CD cases :)
It makes me happy too :)

I got a BX case from them. didn't drop any temperature, but it got a whole lot more roomy in it, so I could put in another hard drive... could be that I haven't really got any case fans except for the one put over two of the hard drives. I oughta get one or two more, I guess.

Don't like windows in a case. Useless.

Snap!
It's empty at the moment, but as soon as the bastards at the Inland Revenue give me the £1200 they owe me, it'll be full of fast things. :D
@kalfireth:  :ick::no: That was terrible!!

I dont use a case...I have all the parts lying on a wooden board (that used to be the bottom for my computer table before I scavenged it) underneath the TV table.........
No problems with cooling though ;)

I have an AOpen HQ-08 Full tower. 5 fan mounts, 5 5.25" bays, a single external 3.5" bay and 7 internal 3.5" bays. I could have bought one of those ridiculous "enthusiast" cases but that would have meant getting a case half the size for twice the price. Thanks, but no thanks.

i got an aopen QF50C ... works for me ;)

But.... 120mm fans are good things!

Getting a Lian-Li PC-60 here real soon. :D
-
I got some generic thing but my CPU temp never goes above ~45 degress and is usually lower, that's only after some long term Renegade or NWN action though.
The case itself is supposed to have some lights on the front, HDD light don't even work, but I have't been arsed with it enough to look too deeply into it, the switches work and that's all i really care about.
*edit*
Went back to the site for where I got my case, this is where they linked me to:

My case is all silver, the USB is on the side and the Power and Reset switches are inverted but that m' case.

Got this little guy:

Really nice case, great PSU, good design...a bit smallish (although its still a full mid-tower) and a bunch of nice features. Very heavy and tough and no vibration...very good case!

I use a Cooler Master ATC-201 Windowless case, real sturdy, thick aluminum, outfitted with high-output Panaflo fans, and a modified Volcano 11 heatsink with a Vantec Tornado fan on a custom-made rheostat/resistor fan control. All I can say is, it's cool, without the noise.

I have a Foxconn. It's ****. But it works. I wish I had that Lian Li I posted earlier though....

Lian-Li's are the best from what I hear.

Mmmmm, clean and simple beauty. :D

mostly just because they're aluminum, which was big when they came out with aluminum cases, and no one else made them. it's supposedly like one big heat sink, so your case temperature stays low... of course those 8 or so fans it has help too ;) but yeah, i've only heard good things about them, except for the price.
My computer case is probably bigger than anyone's here... it's actually too big, it sucks taking it to LANs and stuff, because it's hard for one person to carry.
-
I had the same problem with my old case - granted I had help moving all my stuff from the car to the hall we had our LAN in... but it was still the tallest case there. Also one of the hottest...
-
yeah, well mine's not "modded" in any way. i don't want it to be. my computer's there to perform, not to look pretty. i don't want a case with windows and lights and god knows what else. besides, my computer sits under my desk, and i don't see anything but the front except for when i take it places.
i'm thinking about building a computer, and somehow RAIDing the two hard drives (the big computer i have and the new computer) through the network or something, backed up every night, so that when i want to go to a LAN, i take the little computer case, which has all the stuff my big, work computer has. i dunno, it was just an idea ;)
-
I wish I could afford one of those fancy cases. My desktop at home has a cheap (but decent) Supercase.
-
Lian-Li's are valued for more than just their aluminium construction. Everything about them screams quality and attention to little details, that make up a darned sweet whole.

it's awesome, after a year of constant use, i open her up to clean the dust outta the case, and there's hardly any there

OOOH!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally someone I can speak to first-hand!
You see, I have a VERY dusty room, so I've had many a CPU fan get clogged up and die on me. Luckily, my P3-600 seems to be able to operate perfectly without a working fan, just the heatsink, so that's fine with me. But because my new comp will be an Athlon XP 3000+, I couldn't afford the CPU fan getting clogged up. So a dust filter was actually the main requirement I had for my new case. I decided on the PC-60 after reading a bunch of reviews and such.
So tell me, the dust filter looks from photos to be a foam-like materiel, not an actual paper-weave filter, correct?

foam-like.. and easy to clean..
i live in a dusty room myself, and i clean it each couple of months or so.. it's completely waterproof, so i just run it under a strong tap, shake it dry, and stick it back on..

Hmm, could that be modded onto another case do you think? I've got a mesh-grill that seems wide enough to let a lot of particles through.
-
might be, it's clip-on to the front of the case, there's two largish fans behind that, by the by, right infront of the hard-drive bay. (which can hold five HDD's IIRC)

hmmmm no i'd say it's because they're made of aluminum.
at least that was why they were so popular when i bought my first Lian-Li (and last). of course they look pretty 1337, but so do a lot of other cases ; )

Fine, that may very well be, but they certainly didn't rest on their laurels.
