A concept I had. I'll post some revisions later.
The turrets are just fillers, in the general shape of what I want.
Right now at 580(!) polys.

Oooh, I think you're on to something there  Lose the spikes at the front though, the whole thing would look cool in the snub-nosed front, the spikes just look silly.
The rest of it? Well I like it - it's a cruiser or a corvette right?
-
I'm impressed with how your modding has improved Beowulf. That ships a beauty.
Needs a bit more refining on the engines though. They are still a little too square.
Pity that FS2 only does round beams. That nose is crying out for a little hollowing and a giant beam cannon taking up it's entire length :D
Kal : I like the spikes. Would be better if they looked more like sensors though.
-
580 polys? How many tris?
-
I think lose the spikes, and what you have yourself there is a very nice strike cruiser :) High in Anti-fighter firepower, looks fast with those four large engines on the back.
Something like that would be great for picketting against bombers :)

*snip*
It would fit well as a corvette in the Microsol Consortium fleet from Starforce, much better than the Phobos Advanced reskin I currently use. Round off a couple more of its edges and it would be perfect. Perhaps we could arrange something, no?;)
-
Very nice. It'd look great as an EU frigate for NTEOP :) But since your polycount is so amazingly low, Ithink you should spend some time greebling 'er ;)
-
Thanks all. :)

Yeah... wow ohh wow... that would be cool.
I certainly plan to round out the engines... they are a bit too square. As for the sensors, yeah, they do need some refinement. I've always been partial to sensors, if you know what I mean.

Call me crazy, but I like the spikes :nervous: Maybe if they did not taper to nothing, but came to a slightly more defined end? This thing is crying for a Homeworld ICF-esque spinal beam cannon though. It would have to come out the top, since the bottom is too short, but I could see it either way. And oh yeah, nice work
-
Impressiv. (And it's hard to impress me)
I like the spikes too. I think they are only too big. Give them an either dark map, or the map the orion has for its (or her ? :) )spikes.
-
I'm with Stratcomm. It looks good as it is. The spikes (sensor booms, maybe?) give it a more complete look. More models need details like that.
-
Hmmmmmmmm... I don't think it's so much the existence of them as the shape of them, for some reason it makes it look a bit like a giant dart. Not that I'm knocking the modelling, which is superb, it's just the impression I get :)

uh, I completely agree:nod:
-
ohhh, that would make either an excellent Homeworld destroyer, or an extremely well done Freespace2 cruiser/corvette.
And i think the sensors are good additions. Maybe mounted somewhere other than the tip of the nose would be better.
-
Ooh, nice. Kind of Hecate-ish, but so much better :). I like the sensor booms, but perhaps have them slightly more square, with the ends cut off at an angle - kind of a "7" shape, but with a sharper rake backwards.
Very nice, though - I'm inclined to agree with those above - strike cruiser/frigate, with lots of AA weapons and one or two powerful beams.
-
After looking at it again, I'm going to suggest moving those booms somewhere other than the front. Try about their length back from the nose and to one side, keeps the asymmetry that they provide without adding so much useless length to the ship and putting little things out to get broken off.
-
Wow. Thanks all! :o

 Very good idea.

Nice, but I agree about the spikes. Not that you should remove them, tho, but I suggest you do a picture search on google for Sulaco :)

It's a very inspired model. Maybe it'll inspire me.:doubt:

I say put the spikes on the bottom and shorten them. They can be some kind of antennae.
-
I say, for the spikes, either do as StratComm suggests, or look at the Nebulon-B Frigate for ideas. The Sulaco might have some nice complicated antennae, but I'm not sure that's what's called for here, and a similar placement would be just awful.
-
All I can really say is that she's a beut.

Very nice.

I didn't mean to move them either, I just mean he should replace the spikes with something more like the Sulaco's antenas :)

Luverly ship, though perhaps shorter spikes. Nice to see people are starting to turn out more smaller capships too (I'm assuming it's small because of the relative size of the turrets). Gunships own :D
-
I love the ship, but I don't like the spikes. It makes it look like somekind of grasshopper.
A cruiser, perhaps?
