Baldur's Gate, Planescape: Torment, System Shock 2 and Deus Ex. Best PC RPGs ever.
Betrayal at Krondor was good, but suffered from being set in a world written by Raymond Feist.

Eh? What's wrong with that?

Nothing--if you REALLY, DEEPLY like Feist.
Consider that the Krondor universe is a translation of a long running AD&D campaign into novel form. Then consider the condensation of that world into a video game. It didn't work so well. Hell, the books it was based on didn't work so well. The whole thing lacked cohesion.
Now, if someone had taken that origional campaign and turned THAT directly into a video game, skipping the whole "game-to-book-to-game" process, it could have been vastly improved.

I knew that... and I'm not fanatical about him, but I think he writes well. Meh, different tastes.

I second that
No rpg collection is complete without Planescape: Torment.
Also you might want to try out Tron 2.0.
It's a FPS game with RPG elements like Deus Ex (although Deus Ex can kick it's arse anyday :p)
Also I've heard good things about Anachronox, but I'm not sure, since I haven't been able to try it out myself.
Another one which I've heard about, Septerra Core. I actually have this game but I haven't had the chance to try it, no idea if it's good, but it IS an rpg :)

I rather liked the Empire series, where he wasn't as hamstrung by his source material. It helped that Janny Wurts was along to keep him from going too far astray.
The problem, Goober, is that Feist wrote most of the Krondor books more laundry list: event-event-event-event-event-event. The narrative structure took back seat to trying to pack all the events in. While this can be exciting in and of itself, the importance of those events is lost. If I had to compare it to anything, I would point at Moorcock's Elric of Melnibone and the like.
Contrast that to something like, say, The Lord of the Rings or George R. R. Martin's A Song of Fire and Ice. We have long chains of events in both series, but at all times, the narrative structure bolsters and reinforces the central themes of the stories and knits those events solidly into the story core.
Don't get me wrong: I liked the Krondor and Empire books, and read everything up to Rise of a Merchant Prince.
