I've been holding on to this for a while, and since i'm not working any more on it, Might as well put it out here.
Right Click and Save as only please, no streaming. (http://sectorfiles.com/FSCZ/cutscene.avi)
Bit of random combat with all the SCP stuff turned on. Its crappy and staggering, but at least its something ;)
-
*downloads*
ohhhhhhhhhhhh....pretty. Stuff!
-
Not at my comp now, but I promise I will download it, and see what it is. :)
-
Very nice. Some of theh shots are excellent, the Hecate warping in in particular.
You should read this tutorial on how to record the in-game sounds as well
Click Me. (http://savage.samods.org/tut02.htm)
Hope it helps :)
-
Wow! This gives me an idea :D
-
Okay, some comments:
1.
This is a very very good idea. We should create an excellent composition with sounds, and use that as a kind of "SCP" trailer to get people to FS2 SCP. This is probably the most awe inspiring way to show our progress.
2.
There's some really good scenes in your video, however, theres some rather nasty things in there too:
a) The messy white beams that seem to stay solid forever - they look like some odd lines
b) the close up of the thruster effects when the capital ship jumps out
c) the 3D shockwave is just ugly
d) The odd textures on the Hecate
e) The framerate is a bit low
f) You use the stock sun, which looks a bit low res
g) The shot on the hangar - i would rather stick the camara inside the fighterbay, so you see the ships leave from behind you - they look a bit odd coming out of that 'black line' (as the fighterbay shows from this perspective)
3.
If you could fix the issues mentioned in 2. this probably would be the most amazing FS2-related movie I have ever seen. Please, try to fix them (or explain us how you made it :-) ) - *this* is the kind of publicity the SCP needs to grow and expand.

-
I made the entire thing, from beggining to end, in FRED.
If you want the mission, I can provide that as well, so you can fiddle around with it.
To address some of the points you mentioned:
2.

An experimental beam, the NBeam (one of my creations). That can be changed now that I have an nice new texture :)
b) the close up of the thruster effects when the capital ship jumps out
huh? Timing issue, no worry about that.
c) the 3D shockwave is just ugly
What 3D shockwave? where?
d) The odd textures on the Hecate
Again, my fault. Those are my experimental textures.....rather ugly, I know lol ;)
e) The framerate is a bit low
An issue with my PC mostly. This is fixed however, with Kazan's new build with the time compression :D
f) You use the stock sun, which looks a bit low res
Not much of a problem. I can use the new suns out, if I can find the proper thread...
g) The shot on the hangar - i would rather stick the camara inside the fighterbay, so you see the ships leave from behind you - they look a bit odd coming out of that 'black line' (as the fighterbay shows from this perspective)
hmmmmmm.........interesting....i'll try it...

Hmm.....sorry, I cant work on this, since im working on something similar elsewhere.
Edit: never mind. Im going to try running this again with some of the suggestions given so far. With the new Kazan build, i'll see if i cant get some better framerates..
-
Raaah! 97 % finished, then it tells me that a link with the server cant be established! :(
EDIT: nevermind, back up. nice trailer thingy
EDIT2: Woooo! :D

Oh yes, if anyone wants to modify or do a better recording than what I had done, or simply just wants to watch without downloading the entire video, then may want to try this (http://anandraj.sphosting.com/cutscene2.zip)
Prerequisites include LS's nebulas, Lt.Cannonfodder's new planets, just about every feature to be turned on (just for show) and an ub3r machine.
If someone can get a much better recording with some sound and music and puts it up, it would be deeply appreciated :D :)
-
What did you use to record it?
-
I don't know what he used, but alot of people use FRAPS.
-
FRAPS for the video :)
I used Flickerfree for the compression though - its a lot better than that virtualdub (which i only use to cut frames).
No audio ripping software however, since all this slows down the system quite a lot as it is :/
-
Hmm what codec does FRAPS use? I can't seem to view/open any file it creates.
-
This is what AVI Codec said about the video:
Intel Indeo R5.1
-
FRAPS uses a different Codec. The Indeo one is what I converted it to using flickerfree.
Give me a sec and i'll get the info for you.
-
Just remembered.
FRAPS doesnt use a Codec or compression. It copies the image frame-by-frame into a .avi, which can lead to large sizes. I have troubles sometimes opening the videos, as the program crashes. This may be attributed to the video size - you may to try and reduce a few options to reduce it.
-
what codec is that video in, I can't open it
-
downloading now...
EDIT: Argh! I couldn't see it because I need an indeo codec. You go to the indeo website and they charge you 14.95 for the codec.
Sorry, Singh, you're not worth it :p
-
http://www.moviecodec.com/codecdownload/indeo.shtml
:D
-
and if that doesnt work.
http://home.eunet.no/~pereivin/codec.htm
:D
-
or you could just use Divx or Xvid
-
pfffft....
I'll re-record and re-compress and then re-upload the video then :) :p ;)
-
Or just recompress it and reupload it? ;)
-
im re-compressing a better version of it, along with a bit of music (the FS2 intro). Will re-upload when it's done. After I get an audio capture utility, i'll see if i cant add that as well :D
-
Problem is - i can view *your* video but i can NOT view what FRAPS lets me record O.o
-
Not one of the links provided let me download one for XP...
-
the first link should take you to a page, which has the relevant download page in it.
Try the Indeo 5.11 codec There (http://www.moviecodec.com/download/codecs.shtml)
LS: What programs did you try to use to view the movie?
-
MediaPlayer, VirtualDub, you name it.
-
have you tried videoframer?
www.flickerfree.com
Edit; I saw your other post on the E3 thread. Maybe you should try updating your Codecs (all of them) to get it to work.....dunno though, might have to ask one of the professionals here somewhere ;)
-
I keep reccomending it but no one seems to listen. If you're having codec trouble try G-spot
http://www.headbands.com/gspot/
-
ok. im re-uploading the file. The size is increased to ~67MB, and there is no sound/music (videoframer refuses to put in any, and Virtualdub just messes it up)
Its a much better quality one, with new beams and stuff too :D
Edit: forgot to mention. Just re-download the file from the same link, and PLEASE use save-target as, no streaming. Also, its in DivX format, and download ONLY after ~2 hours, giving it enough time to upload :P
-
aww, ****. I hate DivX, last time I used that crap it filled my inbox with all kinds of crappy ads :(
and i really wanted to see this one
-
I promise to try and remember to download later.

Try the GSpot program Karajoma linked to, it appears to work well :D
