i got rid of the annoying edges at the nose.
hell, i completely redid the nose :p
anyway, now i have to find something for that really large open area.
and find something for the rest of the frotn, can't all stuff it with antennae.

Needs _alot_ more detail, and maybe beveled edges, but I realize it's a WIP, and I'd like to see where it's going. :yes:

I don't really have a fixed thing in mind.
just just save frequently, add something, save if I like, revert if I don't.

cuz by doing that, it looks like someone smacked a rather LARGE hammer againt it.
multiple times.
anyway, most antennae added, update eta within the hour.
unless lycos starts *****ing again.

tried something with bevelle edges, looking the the "block" at the right end of the nose and the "strip" on the hull.
i am wondering though, the ship itself might be a little to "wide".
or does that only look like that because of the blandness on the hull?

I was more thinking of an old "command ship".
like a mobile installation: massive fighterbays, but marginal close-range protection.
would be a pre-great war relic i guess.

Wonderful detail on some bits, but the hull is butt-ugly (and looks more like a maritime vessel than a space one).

It is rather a naval AA cruiser than a spaceship.

yeah, i know, i tried to get rid of the excessive long tip, but it refused to.
i though "drill a hole in it, so that you have a "trench" in which you can put a forawrd-mounted gun" but no, if i did the "object substraction tool" it gives a bolean error or something and deletes sorta the whole model.
that does give it a very "spacey look", but i a whole different meaning.
not really what we are after :p

can someone help me get rid of the bloody pikenose? :p

Do something with the front of the ship. Make the whole thing longer, and make the bow come into a large rounded front, not a point.

Turret making is a bit long to explain, but I densely have time to explain it:
Simple turret(Shoot goes from a box, cylinder, etc.):
Make the turret body, put it into the appropriate place. Name it as 'turret01'.
Add a local light to the position you want the shoot to appear. Normally to the top of the turret body. Name it as H_turret01
Group the local light and the body together. Name that group as 'turret01'. You will need TrueView(a plugin) to make your grouping simpler.
In theory, your turret will work if you set a firing point and a normal in the POF converter you use. I believe you will find details about modifying the POF file.

that little empty area near the middle looks like it could be made easily into a docking/landing bay.:)

Fancy! Definitely a candidate fopr missile destroyerism, and Orion style tex's'd go down a treat. How the hell you went from what was in here before to this I'll never know, but it's still damn cool :D

That looks awesome. I remember when you just had the few rectangles stuck together, and I thought "what the hell is this, thats not a ship", but you've improved it by a factor or like 100 since then. Look great, I just don't think its FS-like. It looks like something out of Wing Commander to me, maybe the WC guys would appreciate this.
Biggest comeback/improvement evar.

oh yes, how do exactly DO I texture, truespace's texturing tool intimidates me with it fuzzy-ness.

Not to label this but it looks like a VERY cool design that the X303 (from Stargate , the Prometheus) SHOULD have been (not that embarressing Terran BRICK, oh yes you can tell those humans are just starting spacecraft cause it's BUTT UGLY! Fear the ugliness!) ;7
I'm a HUGE fan of space-batttleships so GOOD JOB! (now for lots of cool turrets and missile tubes please!)

I could -really- use some advice on texturing and what I should do first: texturing or turretting.

As I understand it, you need to model the ship, then model the turrets, then texture, then do the heirarchy for the turrets. I think.

the first design was sacrificied to the model gods :p
that nicer thingy still lives, hell, i made a backup of it on a cd, just in case.
the tower is quite tall, as intended, but it's within proportions :)

Hehehe....that's kinda funny...even has a little trigger. Make a ship resembling the buster cannon...with it's fire power...that'll be interesting.

The ship also makes me remember a firearm.
It was the first thing which came to my mind as soon as I saw the model.
Whatever that weapon is, this ship will have more firepower, and will require more men to make it work.

virus busted the computer (some members of the family should simply NOT be allowed any access to the internet!)
anyway, i made a backup of the model, so it was safe from the little bugger :p

what would be a good size for the ship?
my personal idea would be something like +/-1,5 km long?
it doesn't "scream" out "Destroyer" to me.
more something like "frigate".
