Seems that they are trying to make a Freespace 2 mod for Freelancer. I wonder how they will deal with the beam issue....

actually it sounds interesting i'm goin to keep myself updated on this.

EDit: i bet you'll be stuck in the freespace 1 era the entire time.

Shame the Gallery link seems to be broken... still, has potential. Seeing FS on any other platform (and bringing other platforms into FS :nod: ) is something we can all support.

If the actual game modifactation they are making is actually what it sounds, then I will go out and buy Freelancer and play it once again, because I had so much fun...

Ive always had big plans... especially that HL2 Freespace 2 FPS, which I am currently working on by learning how to use XSI|EXP. That stuff is HARD! GR! Im working alongside guys at 3D Buzz so I can raise my activity level to download some tutorials that I can use to familiarize myself more. Some other guy said he would help me out as well, but I havent heard back from him. Hes probably busy.

hehehehe It's when you first experience that Golden moment when you realise you've just promised a release in 3 weeks and you haven't actually totally finished a single mission yet ;)

Next week I'm releasing my new mod!!! It has 100 missions!!  100 types of ships!! 50 types of weapons!!!!  Be able to fly a destroyer or man it's guns!!!!  Be able to FLY INTO A SATHANAS THROUGH IT'S CORRIDORS!!!  Stay tuned next week!!!

If you have had that mod under development since FS2 was released, it is quite believeable.

But to me Total conversion means stayign true to the source... Unless they make the factions: Terrans, Vasudans, and Shivans. Otherwise it's just freelancer with FS ships... Where's the plot? The HOL, the SOC, the Friends of Shivans and other Supreme Conquerer Org???
 
  BTW I STILL have not decoded the Starlancer texures!!!  and got about a dozen models I think are cool enough for conversion but I can't map for beans... anyone want to try covering them so they don't turn out to be embarrassing pieces of trash that they would be if I did it? All can be zipped in any major format you need them converted to (most are fighters)... :mad: :mad: :mad:

  The reasont eh original textures cannot be used is that the progrmmaers CODED the bitmaps. You need a special program to decoded the TGA image (regular programs that open TGA images will NOT WORK) it always say bad header or no image found (damn microsoft!)

  I bought the game for .99cents and it was a waste! crashes as soon as you hit play senario. You can only play the same tutorial battle over adn over (lame and boring)... I wonder if freelancer is as flawed? I will wait till it is also more "affordable"... ;)
 
  At least FL ships are more easy to convert and the textures are not ENCODED... but regular bitmaps... (someone used their brain this time).

If it's just the header, then that should be fixable with a HEX editor. But knowing MS, I doubt it is...
