I've got a game that keeps its operational data in a file named "assets.bin", and there are a lot of mistakes in descriptions and not a few typos.

I'd like to edit this file, but I have no idea what I'm doing, so could anyone tell me what the best program is to edit this file with?

Cheers muchly and sorry for the uselessness.

I'd first make a copy of it.  Can you open it with notebook or wordpad?  That would probably work.

-
Tried notepad and wordpad, mostly nonsense onscreen, along with an occasional spattering of understandable text.  Nothing coherent I can edit.

Should've said that first time around, don't really know why I didn't...

Hmmm, it seems you need a hex editor to modify that file. However, I strongly recommend that you have someone do that for you if you are inexperienced, cuz you can **** up a lot if you edit stuff in a hex editor.

I'd do it for you but I'm kinda swamped in my own work. So, sorry... :(

I'm not really that desperate to do it, it's just that some of these things are confusing me and I thought it would be best to look at how they're set up in the file.

I can live with it as it is.

Don't lie, u know you wanna cheat :p

Cheating?  Who said anything about cheating?

Just because I want to customize one of the rifles DOESN'T make it cheating.;7

Nah, really, I want the M4 to take the right add-ons.
