In case people have not checked the asteroid thread recently...

And yes, there are four of them now.

I've seen it.

It looks pretty nice, but I wont bother installing untill you've got all (four?) debris ANIs changed.

You will have to do one additional thing though. The original ANIs have a transparent colour which your debris lacks - you will have to fill the outer area with it or you will get black boxes around the debris.

Just finish this, i'd even be willing to post screenies of it to attract more people :D

sheesh, download the stuf and open it in the appropriate viewer...pic's don't say squat most times, specially with animated stuf...

That looks pretty good! Try to keep the sizes to something like 64 x 64 though, else it wastes texture memory iirc :)

Yeah, use 2^n sizes.

But c'mon, we all want to have a complete release with this (i.e. four debris ANIs) :D

I thought that there was four.  The version I have certainly has 4 seperate ani's, though I haven't looked to see if they are all the same.

They are Lods I think, they are certainly smaller versions of the same Ani :D

Actually, there arent lods, just differently sized animations that are used to give the debris "veriety" as far as transparency is concerned it has to do with the way fs renders the debris, since it is pure black (if sandwich did it right)

now we need different types of .anis for each file, to give supreme debris variety, even though this one does mannage to give the appearance quality of FS2 a HUGE bost.  It can always be better...

(don't have them all rotate the same way, )

Essentially it looks like the debris but brown and darker and rotating versus randomly moving around.

You know what I think would make a good debris field? If you took all the debris, or just one of the debris sections from every ship, and made it into one big field. You could have a GTVA field, a Shivan field, a Vasudan Field, a Terran field, and an altogether field.

Erm... what are these supposed to replace? The little grey poofy things that float about?

Yup, that's the beggars :)

They work really well, but they DO need some variation to my mind :)

Go complain to sandwich. I personally almost prefer making all but one or two of the animations blank so their arent so many of the buggers.

LOL Now, if you could define your debris set in Fred.....All sorts of possibilities are available ;)
