Title: Hmmm... Question

Is this information accurate??
When he says subspace was discovered does he mean Nodes??
Because if it is it gives little time for any "major" settlements before the Great War.  So that would suggest that cultures would be very different than Earth and with Capella that populated is really hard to understand for me.

I cant see subspace being found that early, because it would changed the way I viewed the freespace universe.  It was never really developed in colonization and was mostly undiscovered.
What do you think??

Check the Reference bible (http://www.volition-inc.com/fs/downloads.cfm), it might say.

Remember that Luyten wasn't even discovered before FS1 but it had become a regional superpower less than 10 years later. I guess the effects of near instantanious star travel do a lot more for the colonisation efforts than we realised :)

WMCoolmon, thanks for the info -- but it was no help.

Kara:  I guess Capella had to have very sutible living conditions for the distance and population of it, because getting settled in thirty two years is

IMHO post Great War colonisation is a lot more space based than we assume - so a lot more people live on installations or low-g parts (asteroids, moons) of a system 'cause its more accesable for a space-faring economy.

I think only a handful of planets were colonised during and before the Terran Vasudan War, and just a few of those were Terraformed - such a project would take several decades.

Wow, I'm surprised someone even found that.  No matter, I updated that a bit ago:

Much more accurate and more full of information than the first.  Enjoy.

As for subspace, I always have assumed that it meant the nodes.  Once the tech is discovered and made widely available, I could see mass colonization from an overcrowded Sol system happening quite quickly (it did, obviously).

Of course the 14 Year War didn't completely consume the time of the Terrans and the Vasudans, both were probably busy exploring and colonizing while the front line troops fought it out.  Considering that a good portion of the systems (Capella, Epsilon Pegasi, etc) were actually the systems in contention when the Shivans arrived, there were probably loads of people, mostly in the form of soliders and support, in each of those systems.  When the Great War ended, they probably just settled down whereever they were since they weren't going home (Earth).  That's probably how the majority of the systems became as quickly and massivily colonized as they were in FS2.

Though, if I remember right, there were only a couple hundred million people in Capella, so that's not really a lot considering the US has 300 million by itself.
