ok, I have recently begun haveing some problems with some files. anytime I try to open/copy/move them I get a CRC error and it won't let me do anything with them, how do I fix this?!?
-
run...backup...your hd is going...and the files with CRC errors are hosed...big time
-
realy, hmm, good thing most of my important files are on the other one. so there is no file recovery software that's going to fix these?
-
Nope, some bits in those files have gone missing/corrupted so it's highly unlikely
-
you might try recovery tools, that at least will allow you to get the clusters following the corrupted one, depending on the filetype you might still be able to salvage some things.
Only other thing I've done sometimes with success is to let a tool like CDCheck (http://www.elpros.si/CDCheck/) have a go (yep but also recovers from other media)
maybe, just maybe...there's a minute chance some can be recovered that way...
once you depleted all options, the only thing that hd is good for is scratchware...or possible a reformat and keeping a close eye with HDDHealth or some such tool

yeah man. same thing happend to me a while back. save what you can asap
