Mmm, how odd. It must be a conspiracy by the US against their arch enemy's, the oh so evil, gay-loving, terrorist-supporting, communist French.
All joking aside, I pity the people under the ruble, it isn't a very nice way to go.
-
Thats what you get when you contract out to the lowest bidder....
-
:wtf:
Shoddy workmanship. :p
(edit) Sorry to hear that people died in this accident.. :(
-
Funny how this'll make the news, but almost monthly you hear about the facade falling off a NYC apartment building, killing or maiming someone. Priorities, I guess.

I guess if it happens monthly it's no longer news.
Anyway the thing with this is that it was a brand new building. It only opened last year and cracks and falling plaster had been observed before. That sort of moves it away from accident and towards negligent homicide.

Well, to be fair, it was a French airport. Everyone was probably distracted by stale croissants and abnormally hairy women.
-
I love your title an0n.
-
Oh the most foul, most foreign - French...
My prayers go out to the victim's families.
-
admit it, if all the Right wing talking heads hadn't made it their mission to demonize the French about a year ago, you would have no opinions regarding France one way or the other. They would just be another nation that wasn't America.
-
Freedom Fries! :D
-
I have no bad feelings towards France. They only act as they believe right. Can say the same for most Americans.
-
I have nothing against the french except it's partly their fault we've got to deal with US policy today... if they hadn't helped the rebels...
Anyway, this is a terrible tragedy and I hope as many as possible are found alive.
-
I can see it on FOX news now:
"Homicide Builders!"
-
and they'll make one of the builder's name's Hussein Abin Al-Zwahir, and say he did it on purpose

Since many french women are probably among the most beautiful in the world, I'll just give laugh back at your pathetic bashing, dimwit :p
As for the thing, well, that sucks, but we have a thing for publicly making asses out of ourselves, unfortunately. And the thing was only a year old too.
Ah well, at least it looked cool.
Vyper: you can also build up by saying that if Napoleon the third didn't sell Lousiana ( which was way larger back then ), well half the USA would be french nowadays. Stupid Louis-Napoleon, nothing like his predecessor :p
-
it was sold for a reason. If the French could still have supported it, they would've kept it. Considering the country was stagnating (like it had been since Louis XV... or was it the XVII... the one who was married to Marie Antoinette), they needed money from somewhere.
edit: yay, i guess two and it's the one exactly in the middle... it was the 16th louis.

I'm guessing this statement includes all other species in the primate family then. Dude, I've been to France, and I've visited Quebec. Other than Sophie Marceau and some nameless woman at a Nude Beach in Nice (who could have just as easily been a tourist), i've seen linen sheets more attractive. Jesus Christ, I'd rather shag a rug. Though with a French woman, I guess that's what your getting in the package.
JUST JOKING! Lighten up. Jeez, this isn't 1945. Calm down. Smoke a cigarette, wank off, do some yoga, whatever you need to do. This is a forum of happy people (those emotional motivation classes are starting to pay off).

Play nice, boys. :)

I'm a Canadian. I'm always nice :D

Look closely at my post. Look at the little thing that ends it. It's called a smiley. Let see, to you, what is the feeling conveyed by this smiley.
ooooooooooooooh ;)
oh, btw: I don't do yoga, it hurts my back :p

:) <-- I feel threatened. He looks like he's plotting against me.

If only they had time to surrender, those 5 could've lived to run another day. :sigh:
-
I'm sure the 7-11 they buy coffee at will name a chocolate bar after them. Call it the "European Crunch". I am such an asshole
-
FRANCE SUX LOL
*No it doesn't, get your head off your asses already.
-
*wades through random posts*
My condolences to the families of the 5. :(
-
4. Finally, there's one less dead than expected, so the final count is 4 eatds and 3 wounded. Two of the deads were chinese, one was Czech, the 4th one has not been identified yet.
-
Hmm, way to wipe out the illegal immigrants...
-
Please don't move from your current location, our agents will retrieve you shortly. Don't worry, reconditioning is not that painful.

People forget far too often that the french helped us kick the british off our contitent ~225 years ago

Not all of us. There is a reason why the English don't like the French much :D
-
You mean the constant problems the country raises for us via poor immigrant control (a duel edged sword, granted) lorry strikes and a host of other little spanners in the works?
Yeah I'm not suprised the French aren't always flavour of the month.
(IMPORTANT NOTE: I hate every equally, that is all nations (but not individuals). Please don't assume I hate the French because I'm British. I hate the French because of the mistakes they make. I hate the British for the same).
-
Still, French women are hot. For the most part...
-
Audrey Tautou. Proof enough that you're right.
-
Is that fur on her arms, or is that just the lighting? :p
joke
Truthfully though, French women are usually quite beautiful. I never understood where that stereotype came from.
-
Is this stereotyping but aren't you supposed to say "I'm always nice, you hoser!" ;)
I think the hairy french woman thing is WAY outta poportion. (someone take a census, you NICO)...
Now how much did the French help us??? like ONE officer on the ground (and a Prussian guy)... The rest were in the Atlantic do ing the naval blockade thing remember so "Help kick off the continent isn't that accurate" :p
As for the surrender thing I think they got a bad rap. It was thier GOVERNMENT that surrendered, not the average citizen (ever hear of the French Resistance?) La Resistance lives on! (no there is no punch and pie)...
There I think that sums up everything (back to bed)...
-
It was a rumour spread largely by British Women, I'll leave you to guess why ;)
-
Italian women are the hottest of all the European countries though. Except for Sweden, cuz a blonde hooker on skiis with a couch from Ikea is a fantasy of every man
-
*Fantasizing* ...

I can tell you. Because the majority of British women are shallow and align themselves to fit into the current social curve of stupidity and commercialism.

Dunno about that hairy girl thing, I first heard about that at HLP, go figure. Here, the ones we say are hairy are portuguese ( I never met one so I couldn't say, but heh ).
As for how we helped the US? well, first, we provided training ( hehe, the US army started with the french army, I hope you're ashamed ), and we handed over a lot of canons, w/o wich you'd have been owned severly...
Thunder: before complaining about us hosting "litlle spanners", your government should do something about being the fist european harbour for terrorists :p
-
Read what I said - then reply again after you've thought about it. Perhaps I'll make it easy for you and repeat that I have problems with everyone. I've yet to find a perfect nation. I despise my own nation - more or less - the most out of every nation on the planet. I'm embarassed to be English and think that as a country we're a joke.
But that doesn't make the French, US of A or anyone else perfect - does it? Ergo I can complain about your lorry strikes and your poor immigration control across the channel. I can do that realising that I live in a pathetic little country myself. But this thread isn't about Britain :)
-
I know, I just use my right to answer :p
Oh, and lorry strikes, well, there was that one a few years ago because of the early retirement deal, but have you been bothered by any in the recent last years? Think not :p
And on a last note, our immigration control ( on that regard ) is perfect: we get rid of the immigrants, so there :D
-
Meh, at least Americans have power to back up their arrogance ;)
-
Ah, come on, you brits have the Queen to back up yours :D
"jiggles"
-
She's arrogant? I never really noticed TBH :o
-
Nah, shes supposed to symbolise the Brits power to foreign countries
"jiggles some more"
really, you haven't heard about when she came to France, last month or the one before, and she refused to go in a french car, she made a whole fuss about that, so in the end she came with her own car?
:p Gotta put that on old age I guess.
When will you get rid of that family of rags who pick in the dishes w/o actually doing anything save for entertaining the masses?
We may be bad, but at least you won't hear about the Royal family in France ( coz, believe it or not, they didn't disappear, pouf! like that, they're still around :p )
-
So basically your entie arguement that France is better than England hinges around the royal family?
Watch me give a **** :)
While I'm hardly suprised she was apprehensive about french cars (Diana did die over there, remember?) I couldn't give a damn about what she does. Her actions don't make France a great country - and as I keep saying this isn't about Britian.
Try building your own country up before you knock other peoples ;) I on the other hand don't need to worry about that since as I keep saying - I hate my own country as much as I hate yours.
Edit: Btw, I may hate nations but I love patriotism. It's a great source of amusement :ha:
-
Bah! All of your kings and queens are all related. So the hell with them all! :p

huh no? I was just making fun of you :p
Mah, I forgot english people have no sense of humour :p ( I'm still making fun of you, in case you might be offended again - but as they say, never two w/o three :p - )
-
The only thing you seem to be doing is proving that you can't read.
I'll say it again.
I hate my own country. I hate yours. I hate them for different reasons.
The only thing thats irritating me is your lack of understanding about this. It's not hard is it? I mean the words aren't long and the sentences aren't complex...
Meh, I give up. French or not - you seem to be stupid, irritating or both.

Shave the mustache. Ta-da!
On second thoughts you might not even have to do that :)

Right? :p
Aldo: I couldn't care less, I hate football. That said, you can't avoid news about it here, so I'm kindda aware of the... current state of affairs about it. So in case you don't already know about it: the Bleus are nowhere near the level they were when they got the cup. That has like blown their mind away, they became arrogant pricks, and now they suck. Plain and simple.

But you don't actually know anything about football, do you?
-
Well, I hear about the matches they do ( as a team or individually, in their own regional teams ) coz I have friends who follow it, and everybody has seen how "well" they fared in Japan, right? :p
Anyway, I don't understand why you'd defend them :doubt:

Because a) you have the luxury of having a top-notch football team representing your country, but you don't appreciate - I'm a Scot, and we get nothing but babbling pish from Berti Vogts, coupled with nowt but abject humiliation. You should appreciate what you have, and revel in it when you can.
and b) because it's not fair to criticise players - or any person - if you have no basis for it, and if the criticism is bollocks. I've seen most of the French team regularly playing on the telly for their club, and France still has one of the best groups of players in the world. Not only that, the likes of Henry and Zidane are fantastic, exciting players to watch, and everyone likes to see fantastic players.
Oh, and Japan was 2 years ago. Spain, Portugal, Italy and Argentina has woeful tournaments too.... it's possibly this (i.e. the exhaustion of players playing too many games a season) that led to the champions league having the 2nd group stage removed.
-
Maybe but that still doesn't explain why they let Zidane hobble out onto the pitch for their final game.
If they were capable of such a big mistake it's not a strech to believe that they also mistakenly thought that Senegal was a pissant little team that they could beat any day of the week and didn't bother to prepare properly for them.

ok, Japan was two years ago, but then again, France was four years ago. And when you'll see your football players doing TV ads for champoo or macDonald ( no joke, Bartez for MacDo ) -I'll spare you the sportwear brands-, you'll understand what I mean.

Everyone thought Senegal would be whipping boys, so lets not take it away from them...... France missed Zidane big-time, though. He and Pires were (are) basically the creative heart of the team, it's a bloody big gap to try and fill - and they couldn't.
but you don;t go from being World & european champions to a nobody team overnight - if anything, France are more dangerous thanks to the 2002 debacle. Not to mention that Boumsong (fingers crossed) lad is top-notch.

Fair enough but considering that almost half of the sengalise team played in France they really should have been better prepared :)

True, but look at how crap Diouf turned out to be for Liverpool.........maybe it's a classic better for country than club thing, ala Roque Junior
-
True :)
