Title: WH40K: Dawn of War
Post by: Nico on May 24, 2004, 05:02:12 am
Will we be lucky this time? Back in the days, Wahammer games were cool ( space Hulk, Shadow of the Horned Rat, Dark Omen ). Then they were bad, or even cancelled. The we got false hopes ( Firewarrior, disapointing ). So here's the new challenger: Dawn of War

http://www.relic.com/product/dawnofwar/index.php

Well it's by Relic ( Homeworld ). I do think that's a good start, right? Then it looks good ( not something jaw dropping, but you won't look away with disgust, at least ) , so all the better. And it seems awfully action packed ( check the Battle II screenshot, love the pieces of space marines flying away in the background :p )And finally, there's muchos gore, which ownz :D ( the dreadnought shot :p ).
Well I have high hopes on this one, just hope it won't be orks VS space marines only...

This is what Starcraft II must look like.

well, there's an untold 4th race in this game, so that may add to the dynamic somewhat..

and it's from relic, so they do have a decent pedigree as far as RTS's go.

Ah, st00pid me, they talk about it in the latest White Dwarf:
Space Marines, Chaos Space Marines, Orks and Eldars.
This game won't please the casual Starcraft fan, btw, it's real time, you have a base and everything, but you also have the usual warhammer stuff like leadership tests and stuff like that ( under heavy fire, your units will bow down and be less effective, well, at least, they won't flee, it seems :D ).

If you forget about the crappy unit design and the amount of them onscreen, yeah :p

Well, the thing will be 100% moddable it seems, and I'm pretty sure there's some way to extract the fire warrior meshes "hint hint" :D

Doesn't look very appealing.

Oh, I don't know, for a game still in development, that doesn't look too bad at all :)

It does. But then again, it's crappy full 3D so what can you expect :ick:

Yay! Low resolution sprites for the people! The people demand unadvanced isometric displays!

Please...

IG is in DoW.

Only in single-player campaign as allied forces, but it's there.

And I'll just say that this game rocks.

Lol, I never made the link, to be honest :p

ABout the IG, according to White Dwarf, there's gonna be Forgeworld stuff in DoW, so, considering half their imperial armour range is IG, well...

And I can't find your friggin' vids, CmdKewin, mind giving us a direct link?

Forgeworld stuuf doesnt nessecarily mean Ig, though  a space marine ally in sp most likely does. Be daft to leave them out really.

100% moddable eh? Better go have a look for the forgeworld warhound titan assembly instructions then.
