Title: World War II Memorial Dedication
Post by: Corsair on May 29, 2004, 07:19:23 pm
Anyone watch it on TV or actually attend?

I saw the last few minutes of it...and wow. It looks like an amazing place. I'm going to try to visit at some point this summer. And damn, there were so many people there. It looked like the Mall was just about covered in spectators and such.

It's long past time something like this was put together.

Somehow, Vietnam Vets get a Federally funded memorial less that 30 years after their war and we wait until 95% of the people being honored are dead from old age and make them pay for half of it to boot for the WW2 vets?  Does that strike any of as remotely fair?

Regardless, thank your grandfathers for their sacrifice and service in stopping Hitler and his Reich from taking over the world.  And when you see someone in uniform(military, police, fire services, ect) thank them for their sacrifice and service as well.
