It's gotta have come to an abrupt, violent and untimely end. No 'It only got five seasons' nonsense.
And because I know people are gonna be all "I can't decide", list yer top 3:
[list=1]- Space: Above and Beyond
- Roswell (High)
- Firefly
-
[list=1]
- Family Guy
- Family Guy
- Family Guy
-
I expect this thread to be filled with Firefly fanboys.
Firefly
-
Duckman
Mission Hill
Undergrads
well actualy Duckman lasted for a while, but its still should have gone on longer. And the other two only got like 15 episodes each or so, then the corporate monkies canned 'em.
-
I can believe no one put
1 - Babylon 5: The Legend of the Rangers!!! :eek2:
2 - Space: Above and Beyond
3 - Farscape (it has an abrupt, violent ending :nervous: )

Altho it's not cancelled any more....
Also Futurama, and a failry obscure channel 4 show called ultraviolet which only lasted 1 season.
-
Ultraviolet started getting boring.
And Farscape doesn't count. Four seasons is a pretty good run.
-
1) S:AAB.
2) S:AAB
3) S:AAB
Really, that show was bloody brilliant.
Farscape, well, it's fun to watch if you're bored/having the flue.
B5, well, I never got in to the universe due to the damn Dutch TV company's.
Firefly, the same as Farscape, really. Both in what I have to say about it as in general plot and style
Rosswell, I assume you mean the high school thingy? Never really liked it.
Family Guy, twas nice, but not really good.
-
:(
And futurama had how many seasons? :p

Futurama got canceled???
I thought it was just the Dutch TV idiots not showing more.....
-
futurama got canceled? oh man, this makes me wonder what else I'm behind on...
say, take a peek out your window. Its not all snowy and radiocative is it? if futurama getting canned slipped by me, who's to say that global thermonuclear war couldn't?

Nope, just rainy and covered in clouds.

[color=66ff00]Agreed, B5:Crusade was a far worthier show.
Anyhow, I still have to get around to watching firefly, it's got quite a favourable vibe to it.

1. Exo-Squad
2. Space: Above and Beyond
3. The Tick. (Not the cartoon, but the live action series)
-
1: Firefly
2: Futurama
3: Family Guy
They should rot in hell for cancelling these shows
-
1.Invader Zim, of course. Why it has waited so long for the mention? It was even denied actual end that creators wanted to make, as "it could get ressurected". And what came out of this? Nothing. Hell, many *finished* episodes weren't even aired.
The rest I don't really care about, to be honest, as Poland is horribly deprived of Sci-Fi shows, and I had to download IZ to watch it at all. There was Babylon 5 that ended recently and was shown so early that I had to wake up earlier to even get a chance to watch it, and the final episode was shown even earlier, so I missed it. And there is Star Trek, too, but I don't like it.
So, as a token nominations, I'll say Babylon 5: Crusade [AFAIK, it was going to be better when JMS pulled the plug] and S:AAB, as IIRC it was shown in Poland a long time ago, and so it deserves at least a bit of recognition.
-
[list=1]
- Batman Beyond
- Batman Beyond
- Batman Beyond
-
S:AAB
Knightmare
Crystal Maze
-
Futurama... although it did start getting quite stupid in later seasons... especially once they changed the theme song...
-
Knightmare? Are you stoned?
-
B5 Crusade. Season 1 was just setting the scene. There was going to be all kinds of interesting stuff in later seasons.
Space Above and Beyond
I'd nominate Farscape but apparently it's been saved. So I'll add Dark Skies. How it got cancelled while X-Files survived I'll never know.
-
Dark Skies started getting really ****ing stupid.
It was a kickass idea, but they soured it some then started playing it at stupid times.

1. Futurama (I haven't seen any of the later ones, so maybe it deserved to die)
2. B5: Crusade
-
B5: Crusade
Haven't actively watched any TV-shows since.. and that was years ago already :nervous:
-
Dark Angel is the one I think of first. can't remember any others right now. uh, maybe witchblade too.

Well... after the Professor cloned himself the show went downhill. And by bringing in Herme's son, it made it even worse. :doubt:
But 'The Farsnworth Paradox' is hillarious. As is 'Roswell that ends well'
-
1. Special Unit 2
2. Futurama
3. Invader Zim
DWF: Live action The Tick was horrible.
-
Farscape
-
zim

I might as well say SG-1, because no Australian channel has showed it for more than a year. :(
-
those of you who have not seen zim...
go watch it already...
you Rictor, I am beond certan that if you watch it it will become your favorite show, I said the same thing to Nico and I was right, you can get it from suprnova I'm sure, also on share reactor and a great many sites across the internet, the only thing is you need a good internet conection to get them becase most sets are like 4 gigs total

they were funny and all but towords the end they were just getting plain stupid.
1. Futurama
2. Futurama
3. Futurama
-
I think he was being sarcastic, you know considering that the show was on for a decade, he posted it with smilies, right after someone laughed at my makeing a joke that DS9 was cut down in the prime of it's seventh season...
but maybe I'm wrong:)
-
1. Pinky and the Brain
Effectively cancelled when they dumped the original formula and brought in Elmira. In what other children's cartoon would you see a character reading Joan Collins' "The *****" and angrily proclaim "I preferred The Stud!"?
2. Twin Peaks
Felt like it was going somewhere when it got canned. Leaving Agent Cooper trapped forever in the black lodge. This seems to happen a lot. Same thing happened to Sapphire and Steel at the end of their series. Anyone remember the Ring-like scene with Bob climbing over a sofa?
3. American Gothic
Twin Peaks rip off. Gary Cole was great. He got cancelled as the lead villain. Later he got cancelled as the lead hero in Crusade. Proving he isn't a one trick pony.
-
1) S:AAB I guess
2) Starship Troopers chronicles: Roughnecks
3) mmh, Zim, I suppose, because the plot had been written up to the end of the story, it's not like it would have dragged for "random number" more seasons, becoming less and less funy.
-
Oh yes, I forgot Roughnecks, great thing, that.
-
1) Futurama
2) Farscape
3) Muh... don't watch enough TV for a 3rd one.

Space: Above and Beyond
Brisco County Jr.
Tales of the Golden Monkey
-
Babylon 5 (they changed their minds but by that time JMS had compressed the plot of two seasons into one spoiling both)
Family guy
American Gothic
Dark Skys
Angel
Futurama (apparently)
Anything I watch
-
Oh yeah, Roughnecks. And Beastwars with that. Beastwars was the ****.

I thought Beast Wars ended rather than being cancelled.
How could I have forgotten Twin Peaks! Still Lynch did have an option to explain everything but decided to make a prequel instead.
-
I don't know. I was young and pissed off when they stopped being Beastwars and turned into Beastwars transmetalix or sommat.
-
[color=66ff00]Starwars; they made three great films and then some idiot called Lucas came along and replaced all the goodness with total nonsense...

yup, there are several eps on Supernova, as well as the first three seasons all packaged up (though thankfully, they're seperate, comming in at about 1-1.5 gigs each)
I'll check it out. I've heard alot of about Zim, and it looks really cool, so I'l grab some of the eps and see for myself. Thanks for the advice.
-
Bob: Is this legal?? just curious
and how do you download, all I see is text
-
strictly speaking, yes. Suprnova doesn't actually link to any illegal files, and no one here is even linking to supernova, only discussing it.
-
how do you download, all I see is text
-
you need to have bit torrent installed. just google for it, or you can download shad0w's client here: http://bittornado.com/ , which is a better client than the default.
-
Thanks

[color=66ff00]Not true, Irvin Kershner did an excellent job on Empire and Richard Marquand did Jedi so 'they' are much more than Lucas.
Oh yeah. :p

Well, if you call Angel canceled, then, well, offf course.
-
Uh, Angel was in fact cancelled. A shame too, since now we don't really have anything decent in the tongue-in-cheek-heroes-fighting-monsters genre. Xena, Hercules, Buffy, and now Angel... alas.
Anyway, I agree with a lot of what's been listed so far-- Futurama, Duckman, Zim, The Tick (animated), Brisco County Jr., etc. Great stuff. Now for some more obscure ones. Most of these fall in the "ahead of their time" category.
1. Max Headroom. Alas, too geeky and dystopian for American audiences.
1. Doctor Doctor. A proto-Scrubs starring Matt Frewer (see above).
2. FM. A proto-Newsradio starring Robert Hays (Airplane!).
3. Quark (http://www.tvparty.com/recquark.html). The adventures of the crew of a space garbage scow. Sci-fi spoofery a full decade before Red Dwarf hit the airwaves.
4. Police Squad. Sad that so many people don't even realize the movies were based on this short-lived series.
5. Get a Life! Starred Chris Elliot. Too surreal to live. The only series you'll see where the star encounters an ET-like alien, accidentally kills him, and eats him.
6. Liquid Television. MTV's last good animation show. Well, that and...
7. Daria. This is how highschool would have been for me if I'd been female. At least this series got a proper sendoff. Its cancellation officially ended any reason for me to ever tune in to MTV.

I know. Sad really as the shows were great. I especially loved the way the guest star was always dead before the titles were over. :D

And in case anyone is wondering what a space garbage scow looks like:

Space Above and Beyond, that show kicked complete and total ass.
Roughnecks: The Starship Troopers Chronicles, sadly it ended after one season, I wanted to see what happened to Earth and stuff. I do have all the episodes on tape somewheres.

Gah, how could I forget about the Roughneck Chronicles. (For all you other RC fans, here is an excellent site http://www.roughneckchronicles.com/ )
And, yeah, Beast Wars was never cancelled, it had an official end, then they decided to do Beast Machines which got cancelled, IIRC. I liked Beast Machines, a lot of others didn't, but I think it had potential.

You're missing the point. The space garbage scow in Quark is supposed to be ugly. It's also supposed to vaguely resemble the old Star Trek style of ships (which actually weren't so old at the time!).
-
Well the toybox are ugly too, but in a cool way. Your thing is ugly in a ridiculous way. Honestly, that's out of thunderbird, right? :p
