This came up over lunch. Whilst discussing the plethora of sword and sorcery / sandals movies kicking around at the moment. We reckon this film is a sure thing. The only question is, who will play the major roles in the film? After some discussion we came up with the following predictions.
Kermit as Frodo. Bets are off on this one. Traditionally the lead roles have always gone to Kermit. Not that I like him that much.
Fozzy as Sam. Fozzy looks up to Kermit and plays the sincere loser part well. Seems like a dead cert.
Jason Carter as Aragorn. We figure a human for this role. To make it easier to expedite the plot. D or C list at most. Not sure who though. Someone hairy. Best I could come up with was Jason Carter (Marcus Cole, B5).
Miss Piggy as Arwen. There's no way she's not getting this part. Haaaaya!
John Clease as Gandalf. Think Tim the Enchanter from Holy Grail.
Jeremy Irons as Saruman. Should be at ease with the evil wizard role following his role in the appropriately terrible Dungeons and Dragons movie.
Gonzo as Legolass. We figure Gonzo's odd-ball persona is a good fit for spaced out Legolass.
Rizzo The Rat as Gimli. Who else would be as well suited to getting over all the short-ass jokes.
Janie (the band guitar player) as Galadriel. The only other female muppet out there of any consequence. So she wins by default. Unless you want to cast a human. In which case I'd go for a comedy actress like Dawn French.
Chickens as the orc hordes. Imagine the scene as two nameless Gondorian soldiers (played by the two old gits) look out over the battlements at line upon line of chickens. Nuff said.
Swedish Chef as orc boss. You know you've always got the tough orc who's running things and takes a good few seconds longer to kill than everyone else. I figure swedish chef for that role.
Any comments?

admittedly that'd be funny as hell, but, can i have what you were smoking?

Awesome!

I like it!

You forgot Sam as Elrond and Pepe as Gollum:D
And I think Piggy would be much better as Eowyn.
-
This is a definate nominee for best idea of 2004

Somebody get some puppets, kidnap Frank Oz, and meet me in Hollywood....
-
Animal as Smeagol, it just has to be....................
-
*snickers*
This could be very, very funny.

Animal as Smeagol. Inspired! Piggy would be good as Arwen but she could also do a kick ass Eowyn. "I am no man... I am a PIG! Haaaayaaa!" . Shame there aren't more female muppets. I guess she could play both parts? Of course that leaves Jason Carter's choice of girlfriend as Miss Piggy or Miss Piggy.

I think Statler and Waldorf as Gollum ...doing teh two aspects of his personality....
I think Animal would make a better RingWraith ....
Now...Merry and Pippin.....tricky! Can't think who would fit them.
Got to find a role for Rolf as well...maybe TreeBeard ?
OK.....quick, get this all down, and get it copyright , otherwise Hollywood is going to steal it :D

no, there is no possible way anyone besides animal could play gollum.

[color=66ff00]He may be mental but he's too full of goodness to be Gollum.
There's got to be a well known evil muppet? Perhaps Johnny Fiama, he's constantly trying to con people into doing stuff for him isn't he. :D

Maaaaaaaaaahhh!!! Shire! Bag-gins!
These lines were designed for animal, especially if it cut to Sauron playing him Britney Spears or something ;)
