Title: Could someone spare a bit of Derelict Data?
Post by: WMCoolmon on June 19, 2004, 04:11:23 am
Because I never really installed Freespace 2, the Derelict installer will not work. All I've got is derelict.vp, and the 'Welcome to the Boonies' missions. Does anyone have the rest of the files handy?

Uhm, do a search for a Karajorma post containing Derelict. He has had the files up for months, and they might still be there.

Open the zip file and tear out the files you need from there.

Warning: this is not compatible with part of the most recent media vp, but I forget which part.

If anyone does any work on Derelict let me know.  Agatheron & Kellan have long since disappeared from the community but they were both once a part of the BWO project and I'd like to preserve their work if possible.

Thanks

I was thinking about converting Derelict to use modular table files, but, well, here's the list of changed ships up to the Boadecia (Many are just in-tech-database'd)
Quote
Herc Mk II
Ares
Erinyes
Pegasus
Perseus?
Artemis
Artemis DH
Hydra (new)
Boanerges
Hygeria
Triton
Zephyrus
Charybridis
GTD Hades
Colossus
Deimos
Aeolus
Saphah

This means if you've got speffects and derelict installed, one won't work properly.

Yes, I found that out.  That was why I couldn't use Maxim cannons for half the campaign and the loadout selections were screwed up.

Small question - what is the NPW-2?

That might explain why it sounds familiar...I get a vague image of a blocky weapon loadout icon when I hear the name.

Gloriano, are you sure those are the files exactly as they were extracted by the installer?

Figured out the problem, turns out that I removed speffects too late. I used CSGEdit to allow myself the correct weapons and I think that might've fixed that problem.

Now my problem is that while I can use everything, almost nothing's in my weapons pool. :D I should be able to fix that by playing the next mission...or with a bit of hex editor hacking :drevil:

Edit: Oh, no, the EXE version doesn't work because I never installed Freespace 2. Just copied the VPs and EXEs. That means there's no uninstall data in the registry, which is what all programs use that try to auto-find the FS2 directory.

Is this table problem present when using the -mod flag ?

Yes.

Like I said above, if you have the version with the installer, rip open the .exe with WinZip and get the .vp file and the .tbl's and put them in a mod folder.  Put the tables in a data/tables directory underneath that.

K, I have a different version. Derelict vp with everything in it, including tables. Shouldn't be a problem with it using the -mod flag.

Unofficial Derelict Voice Pack (http://fs2source.warpcore.org/temp/derelict_voice.exe), all the voice files stuffed into one convenient and easy-to-use VP. Just put it in the same directory as the main Derelict one to use it.

Ahhh...deja vu. ;)

If someone could mirror the file, it'd be mucho appreciated...I'm going to remove it in a day or two to keep the warpcore admins from breathing down Inqui's neck.

I didnt think there was a voice pack, official or not. Cool, thanks.

Erg, I didn't explain fully...if you check out the archives, there's something like 6 missions from Derelict in there, with voices. I just extracted the wav files and packaged 'em.

I suspect there are more out there...somewhere...*glances at IceFire*

The afterburner trails don´t work, too. I think it´s caused by the tbl-files used. That´s really too bad, ´cause they are one of the best graphical improvements of the game (after shinemapping).
Any idea?
