Title: Making the start menu background transparent....
Post by: Fineus on June 20, 2004, 02:16:53 pm
As the title says, I'm trying to jazz up my explorer shell a bit (everything else I tried was either impractical or clunky and resource-sapping).

To that end I'd like to make the background of the start menu partially transparent... I'm talking about just the start menu that pops up when you click "start"... not the task bar.

Anyone have any ideas? Maybe some kind of registry edit...

[color=66ff00]I'm assuming it's XP; if so google throws up lots of answers.

This one looks like a good bet and I think it's freeware: http://www.tweakxp.com/displaySoft.aspx?id=14239

Object Desktop owns. I still use WindowBlinds. Unfortunately, my registration for the rest of Stardock's expired a couple of years back. :p
