When I try to convert a model i get this message it said you fotgot to group those objects how do i do that.
-
paste them with the glue thingy...
sorry it's been awhile :p
-
If you are using Truespace choose glue as sibling, then add a light and click on the center of the model. make sure your model is centered and oriented right. when you do this you will get offest by 1 unit, go back and recenter the model then save object. Your model is now grouped.
:D I hope that was helpful, I still need to find out how to break a model down INTO groups! If you model and have some free time please let me know! L8tr!

Better still, get hold of a copy of Trueview. This is a free plugin that works on most versions of Truespace. This lets you drag and drop bits of model, lights etc. in Truespace without worrying about 'glue' ;)
Whatever utility you are using to convert a model into a Freespace object, the thing is expecting to see 'groups'
In your truepsace scene, you usually have your model mesh, and a couple of lights as default. Your model must be part of a group. The simplest 'group' you can build is your mesh, plus a 'local light'. Each Truespace group must have a light at the end of it. If you do this is Trueview, you will actually see the group formed. Much easier to comprehend that way ;)
Also, all the parts in a model need to be arranged in a certain way.... the 'hierarchy'. Every tutorial I have scene on the subject uses Trueview to show the structure. Get a copy... :D
p.s. If you are NOT using Truespace to build the hierarchy, but are using another program to create a truespace COB file, you are not going to get this right. All youa re doing is building up a world of headaches! There is ( I think it is still out there ) a free version of Truespace 3.2. Track it down and get a copy!

Caligari took down 3.2, IIRC because they didn't want to field support for it. It may be available from somewhere else however.
-
Caligari didn't take down TS3.2 at all AFAIK. Download.com removed their copy but the Caligari registration page still appears to have it.

If the form works and you still can't find a copy I have a copy I can upload.

how do i make sure my model is centered and oriented right.
-
Put it at 0,0,0 and point it at the bottom left of the screen in Truespace :)
-
put that where.
-
IF you right click on the 'cursor' arrow button in TS, it opens up a box which gives you the co-ordinates of your part. Set the x,y,and z values to 0 and you are centred
Also, as far as orientation goes, when you have the default 'perspective' view up in TS, the ship should point it's nose at the bottom left corner of the screen.

i tryed to convert the Tennyson model but when i looked in model view it said error too many bounding boxes and i can't see it in the fs2 techroom.

Sorry. I assumed you had the info box open. (I can't imagine modelling without it :) )
