What the hell is with the server?  It just went down for a few minutes, then came back again.

Yeah, we know. And Gamespy knows. They're still trying to put a definitive end to it.

HLP appear to be breaking down in short periods. I go make my dinner. When I reach the fridge, HLP will be down. While I am slicing the bread, HLP will be operating again, when I return to post one, it will be down again.

...are you sure? I personally think it's they have their own motive, perhaps world domination.

*Insert some form of agreement, angst at the problem, poorly formed joke or other space filler so as to provide the illusion that this post is anything but an attempt to increase ones own post count by a number of 1*

And you all know it's true :p

Heh, like you don't already have enough to be handing out freebies :P

It's seesawing a bit, which suggest that GS do have protection against the problem in place, but it takes a few minutes to kick in?

Or the problem has become intermittent and is also tying up server resources, which might explain why the boards seen kinda slow.

Thunder: if you look at it that way, every single post in all the forums are spam except for thread starters, and even some of those are spam.

So, in conclusion, shut up and let us increase our post counts :D

You've managed to totally ignore a whole slew of post types that aren't spam.

Congratulations - failure :p

So, agreeing is spam, and disagreeing isn't spam? Those two categories are basically the contents of posts. So, to prevent spam, one must disagree with everything and not agree with anything. I see :p

My view of spam is this: Contents of a post that is irrelevant to the topic and/or completely uninteresting.

[edit]Yes, this post is spam :D

I only have to post to have something you can disagree with.

It's just a stab in the dark, but I'm gonna say some moron on the server is running a stupidly resource-intensive script that's raping the MySQL. Probably some looping thing.

That or GS have the max_connections thing set to like 5.

Its these types of posts that make people consider this bandwidth being used here, to be wasted bandwidth. Lets not let Gamespy in on the fact we are mostly bored and posting pointless drivel, if they find out they may can the entire place due to not being able to keep things interesting and on topic.

Its happened once....
