Title: Your modding brains, please
Post by: TopAce on June 29, 2004, 04:56:11 am
Got a problem:
With Lightspeed's planets brought to the beginning of the background list, I received a view like this:
Look at the planets. One is well-visible and the other one is behind the escort list.
[glow=blue]My question is:[/glow]
Is there a way to block this bug without the need of erasing the nebulae which are hanging into the planet images? I wouldn't like to struggle with finding those single responsible nebulae, which hang into the planet.

Alter the order the backgrounds are in. Planets need to either be first or last (can't remember which at the moment).

First, when the planet image has no 'pure green' background, last when it has. LS' planets have black background, so they should be in the first places. The problem is the nebulae which overlap the planets.

I thought it was last all the time. (exept when you wanted nebula over the planet)

Have you tried them last?

They have always been the last in the queue. And there was a black square around it + the nebula.

Say, where is Lighty?  I haven't seen him here since before the latest downtime.  Exams or vacations do you suppose?

Could be either one, depending on where in the world he is.

I'm pretty sure the colleges in my state have gone out for the summer for the most part.

THIS is the result when the planets are the last in the queue.

There is no way LS made those planets - possible solution: replace them with the proper thing.

He's right, you can tell the larger of the two is pixellated.

I think your problem might be that there's another stars.tbl getting loaded.

Edit: blah, no. That shouldn't be it, there is no stars.tbl :p

Try extracting the planets directly into the data/effects directory of whatever mod you're using, or data if you aren't using one.

Those planets are in the MediaVP. I see you cannot see my problem.

....

It may be the JPG. It's low quality because I only wanted to show you what I understand as 'black square'

I've figured out what the problem is.

FS2_Open has gotten sick of you saying bad things about it and decided to pay you back by giving you an error than no one else encounters :p

Um.... check your startup actions & FS_open version

IIRC Lighty's planets used alpha channels - mybe you've done something to disable TGAs?

(edit - what the hell did I write that for?)

Look at the planets at both pictures.
I am glad that the difference is not apparent. :)

I just didn't look closely beyond noticing the boxes were gone.

You moved the planets :)

Some would say that it was cheating to do that :D

I didn't move the planets, I removed some nebulae.
